Firstly people fought between S-AMOLED and S-LCD. I would say the discussions on the screen were like a World War.
Now people are fighting over the prices saying Wave II is not worth more than 15,000.
No matter even if the phone is not worth 5000 Rs also, thats fine.. Owners of Wave II are not gonna feel bad about the price they have bought whether its more or less. I bought Wave II for a solid price of Rs 18,600 and a screen guard for another Rs 300 which would make my budget Rs 19,000 for Wave II. But I dont regret spending that amount.. If I would have waited for a month I would have saved some bucks, but the feeling to own Wave II made me to buy it earlier..
Not only mobile, each and every electronic device depreciates in value as each day proceeds.. but that doesn't mean we have to wait till the price comes down. If we wait, we will not be able to buy anything..
(No offenses on any other model holders).
Anonymous, 19 Jan 2011Seems ppl are pissed off either due to superiority of Samoled over Slcd and .4 inch bigger scr... morehey man now you are talking sensible, good. as far as galaxy 4 inch screen with same resolution, look 1st, it has different os. 2nd, ofcourse it,s screen is not as good as 8500 due to large size and same resolution. I researched more then you. fact is that samsung was finding it difficult to sell galaxy in the presence of 8500. they hade no option but to retire one and obviously it was not expensive galaxy. this way they save galaxy.
but man we are not here to discuss these issues. samsung came with a bigger and heavier 8530. considering it,s size they could have easly put 4.0" screen into it and it would have some perfect compensation for the loss of samoled. replacing it with 3.7" lcd is no compensation. .4" increase hardly make any difference. samsung is only encashing the popularity of 8500. I was planning to buy 8500. I plan and plan and in the meantime it vanish. most of the people here are like me who lost the opportunity and now looking towards 8530. samsung know this very well that it could not meet the demand of 8500. so it is just encashing the popularty of 8500 by wooing customer with .4" increase in lcd.
thats why i strongly think that it is overpriced and should be around 15,000.
Hey folks...it seems that the new Wave has stirred up quite a hornet's nest...well m currently on to buy a smart phone and i am absolutely puzzled between Nokia's C7 and Samsung's Wave2. Please throw some light on what my decision must be. Actually i have been a nokia fan..but i just want 2 make sure that i dont leave out a potential better contender, just because of the 'nokia charm'. I am also impressed by the processing speed of wave2..and many other features which make it real close to the C7. The one thing that pisses me about C7 is its fixed focus camera and the O.S.(just dont know why they dont make symbian smarter!..its so age old although functional). However i currently think that the C7 is much cooler though the Wave2 is newer. C7 also offers tremendous storage which absolutely suits me, cz i normally wud hav GBs of songs on it. And guys if you have some knowledge of the cameras in the 2 cellfones, please tell whether the C7's 8MP FF really loses to the Wave2's 5MP AF?..As u can c..I am completely lost and my decision has been pending for over 2 weeks now!..please help..:)
help911, 19 Jan 2011but here in our country both are still available, i just dont want to regret buying which isnt... moreWell based on your need I will suggest Wave II for you, slightly bigger screen certainly helps. This also gives a premium look to the phone (no offense meant to Wave owners, I have both phones myself)
Of course, u also need to find whether u r ok with 'natural' colors of Wave II or need 'vibrant' colors of Wave. Both are good, IMHO...
RoYaL, 19 Jan 2011AFAIK Wave is no longer available, you have to go for Wave II... but here in our country both are still available, i just dont want to regret buying which isnt better, so pls help, maybe a week or 2 wave will face out and not be availabe anymore here, so what should i choose?
im really getting the hardest time choosing between wave and wave II
ugh please help!! what to choose and why??
i need the phone for watching, reading, music, browsing, chatting,
so which is better?? pls help
Seems ppl are pissed off either due to superiority of Samoled over Slcd and .4 inch bigger screen :)
Each has its advantage, Samoled is Definitely better than Slcd but not that better as it is being made out by some ppl. I have seen both side by side and thus came to this conclusion. However I dont have problem if any Wave user is happy with his purchase of Samoled :) After all it is his money and his phone. But is there any practical use of watching a phone at 180 degrees???!!! Samoled do offer better visibility in sunlight and battery (smaller screen helps this further).
Both versions look far better compared to lcd screens.
Lastly, going by the logic that same resolution in bigger screen is bad, then Galaxy S with same resolution and 4 inch screen is worse that either of the two !!!
Also ppl do watch movies in smartphone and .4 inch is certainly an advantage in this respect. Wave II users can and will brag about this, just as Wave users brag about Samoled.
Bottomline: If you are happy about your Wave purchase...great. We are also happy for you as long as you mind your own business and dont try to showoff over something that has 99% identical hardware.
Anonymous, 19 Jan 2011You should not be biased about your Wave 8500 man. GSMArena is trying to glorify the Wave 8500... moreoh one thing remains and that is YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON CLAIMING SUPER AMOLED IS HARMFULL TO EYES. if you don,t know then i tell you that you can adjust brightness upto it,s lowest level. and you crack amoled is not brighter but is superfine with great viewing angles upto 180 digree and with more vibrent colours. this was super amoled of 8500 that destroy iphone 4
Anonymous, 19 Jan 2011You should not be biased about your Wave 8500 man. GSMArena is trying to glorify the Wave 8500... moreoh, you are very intelligent and thinks gsmarena is biased and trying to glorify Wave 8500. well done, shame on you.using this website and blaming it too.you fool i don,t own 8500 but seen both phones.I am not gloryfying 8500, i am talking just what is true. unfortunately 8500 is no longer available. had both phones available nobody would have bought 8530, not even you. it seems that you bought 8530 over 17500 and now can not digest the rates coming down and benifitting others but wait it will come down soon
as far as .4" screen difference. both phones have same resolution and no font size adjustment feature so useless because default font size is very huge even in 8500 and it will be worse in 8530.in browsing you have no option but to zoom only so what is the use of .4" bigger screen. watching movies? o.k tell me how much movies you watch on your phone and what big difference .4" will make. if you think gsmarena is biased then think about yourself. you don,t want to accept the facts.
poor fellow we spend our hard earned money and deserve the best
tissot, 19 Jan 2011don,t fool yourself. i am not jealous. read gsmarena review carefully. try to find out the pri... moreYou should not be biased about your Wave 8500 man. GSMArena is trying to glorify the Wave 8500 from long ago. But the fact is you need to find and review other mobile review and video sites as well.
I went through many different sites throughout the web for around 3 months and considered almost every aspect of these 2 mobiles.
I have a few review videos of these 2 and comparison articles, videos etc. as well.
I must agree that the screen is costlier, slightly brighter (to me it's harmful for your eyes) in Wave 8500.
But the Wave 8530 screen is .4 inch bigger than screen in Wave 8500, which is a premium feature for a smartphone and which promotes this set to the elite league of premium touch smartphones of today's mobile world.
And because of having only 3.3 inch screen Wave 8500 lacks to be comparable with other elite handsets, even while it has Super AMOLED.
Super Clear LCD lacks slightly in brightness but produces more natural color which is of course a great perspective while viewing any photo, video or movie on its screen.
On the other hand Wave 8530 has Bada v1.2 the latest one apart from the older version in Wave 8500.
The rest is same almost about upto 99% in both of these 2 handsets.
So do not shout indiscriminately and try to fool yourself and others as well. Review through the web and come here only after that.
[deleted post]don,t fool yourself. i am not jealous. read gsmarena review carefully. try to find out the price difference between sclcd and super amoled.you will understand the facts then put both phones together and compare and analyse the quality of each function and feature. even then if you can,t figure out the quality difference then I am really sorry, only can feel pity on you. facts are facts, learn to digest them. I am not saying it is bad phone. I am only saying that it should be priced low, understand?
karthik, 19 Jan 2011I am planning to buy smart phone. Budget around 15000. Finally i found these two LG optimus on... morehi, kartik just wait for some time, wave II will be available in 15000 only. it is super duper dinchak phone, ekdum mast hai basic telephony ke liye. now overpriced, iska baap original wave 17,500 main milta tha with super amoled. anybody saying sclcd is better or equal to super amoled or wave II is better or equal to original wave is mental. he should contact doctors as soon as possible. Yes this phone is also good and deserve not more then 15.000
