You are right, you should not expect the camera to be as good as a real digicam. But for the price of these 'superphones' which is more than the total of a decent camera and a decent phone; you will expect consumers to expect this.

I cannot beleive that so many of us are dragged into the same technological b*&^sh$%. You cannot buy a phone because the camera pixiles are blurry what a joke. Get yourself a camera then. Come on Guys a phone is meant to make calls and receive calls whats a phone if it freezes because of your MP3 or maybe the camera. Call me old fashion but I think most of us are getting carried away with new technology. How many of us had to change phones within a year because it does not work. It's all due to the crap they put onto the phone. Hey I am entitled to my opinion

I agree with the other poster. I also ordered and received this phone. And i must say, its very good. I had a LG KE990 Viewty unlocked here in usa. i live in so-cal. And it did have good camera, but i must say, this camera is very good. it might look like LG, but who cares. I have taken many pictures and they are good quality. I dont care if it had wifi. Stop hating on tmobile, ALL the carriers' phones mostly dont have wifi. Besides, why do you need wifi? You have a comp right? Are you gonna have a wifi hotspot EVERYWHERE you go? NOPE!! point is, stop dissing phones because of no wifi. its not important. if i wanted a wifi phone(which i do not), i would have got another unlocked phone. but they are expencive and i got this for 229 with 2 year contract extension.I like to take pictures, i dont like looking at internet on 3 inch screen. and this phone's camera IS VERY GOOD. and HIGH quality. kudos for samsung for building good phones.

Hinano, 03 Mar 2009Reading everyone's reviews I'm quite disappointed. I had intended to replace my N95-3 with thi... moreT-Mobile Memoir, Is an amazing phone superior to any Series of Nokia N-95, as for having small sensors dont believe any fool here simply trust yourself T-Mobile offers a 14 day return policy get it, try it play with it, be rest assured other then the fact it has no Wi-Fi It purely not only blows away most phones out there including a lot of Nokia's as well as all the N-95 Series But even really physically blows away real digital cameras that cost as much as $400.00 by itself. Again, PLEASE do not even believe me you be the judge try it it will make a believer out of you, anyone badmouthing this phone are the only ones that gotten screwed by buying inferior junk to this Marvel.

I received the Samsung Memoir this afternoon. After charging the battery and reading the manual I took it outside to try out the camera. Several others stated that their pictures were blurry. I can agree with that, too, but after changing the setting to 'sports' and turning on the 'anti-shake' pictures were very clear. However, shooting from a shaded area into a sunlit area was difficult to control and I couldn't adjust the settings to correct the disparity in the two images. Either the foreground was well exposed and the sunlit areas overexposed, or the sky was relatively true in color, but the foreground was too dark. If you want to hold the phone like a camera to press the shutter button you'll find your thumb hitting the end key accidently. Several times the display pixalated areas of the just snapped photo, but the photo looked correct in the picture view. The UI lags and often didn't interpret my commands correctly which required multiple swipes or taps. Scrolling the widget bar was often interrupted by the activation of the widget your finger was on instead. This is not to say the UI sucks, it just takes some getting used to. The phone wouldn't recognize 99% of my SD stored photos taken with my Nokia phones, or my contacts saved on my SD card. It would say they were unprocessed, or something to that effect. I found that very weird, but the phone recognized all my music tracks. I didn't make a call to try the speaker phone, but music sounded very nice through the single speaker. The sound had depth and clarity. I could go into more detail, but I won't bore you. Overall, the Memoir is a very nice phone and camera, but with a few issues. I had my eye on a Nokia 5800 or N86 before T-Mobile announced the Memoir. I've got the Memoir boxed up for a return trip, and a Nokia in my immediate future.

Reading everyone's reviews I'm quite disappointed. I had intended to replace my N95-3 with this phone, but no longer will I do that. I may not have 3G with tmobile, but at least the phone isn't crippled and my 5mp camera can be silenced (lol what the hell no way to turn sound off O_O).

ALL THIS HIP
about MEGAPIXELS worth nothing
if the camera has no large sensor,
decent otics and optical zoom!
DON'T BE FOOLISH AND WASTE YOUR$$$

Unfortunetly no cell phone on today's
market can come even close to photo quality
of PANASONIC TZ7 (updated tz5) or CANON G10!

I had a Samsung i900 Omnia for about 2 months. Then it bricked when i tried to hard reset it. It became useless and since it was bought on internet and officially not a US version i sent it to Korea for repair. Another month and a half-no news. So no more Samsung for me.
No i did the research and bought myself a SE Experia X1. What a difference folks. The screen is more responsive, extra keyboard, much better feel and finish, hard ware buttons glow in the dark, better resolution of the screen, doesn`t freeze up as much, better sound, ...and it`s made by HTC.
So folks do yourselves a favor, get SE or HTC and be happy. There will be no more wasted time and money on rubbish like Samsung or Nokia. Nokia used to be good 5 years ago. No they simply fail to keep uo with technology, and they are completely not user friendly. My N82 died on me after less than a year of use. I re-installed a firmware, it didn`t work out. What a waste.
That was just my humble opinion. Please no offense or aggravation taken. Cheers, Val.

if you are buy this phone for the camera its not so great. All my pictures are blurry i tried everything but all the pictures are somewhat blurry and that makes then look like crap. the video is horrible unless you are outside on a very very sunny day. you cannot turn off camera shutter so it makes a loud noise everytime you take picture(which means no pervert shots and no wildlife bird shots which makes the camera useless). you can change the iso and some other things but the phone will not out perform a 4 megapixel digital camera. Trust me the images are not very clear at all.

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2009It looks like a fat LG Viewty! If you would have taken the time to compare them, you would see that the Memoir is skinnier and thinner than the Viewty, although it is slightly heavier and taller. I'd rather a phone be thinner, as would almost everyone else.
