No the numbers on the keypad (0-9) are not touch sensitive, they are just like any normal keypad. The buttons on the top area on the phone are the only ones that are touch sensitive.
Does anyone know when this phone will be out on Pay and Go?
Hello, i would just like to enquire about the music capabilities of the Samsung U600. I currently have a SE K750i, on this phone you can listen to music and change the track using the volume up and down keys. Is this function possible on the U600? Also, the main keypad (numbers 0-9) - are they touch sensitive?
I've been reading everyone's comments, and I would like some U600 owners to maybe say a few things about the touch key pad, as this is what is worrying me. I have D600 atm, upgrade due. I was all for the U600 til I heard about the key pad. Is it only the top buttons that are touch sensitive, or all the buttons on the phone? I am definitely a texter rather than a talker, and so this aspect has put a question mark over the phone in my opinion. Should I wait for the U700??
does this phone have diffrent ringtones for diffretn contacts so i can have diffrent ringtones for diffrent friends ???
When the phone rings does it still ring very low sound for the first 3 sec and then get louder or does it ring full level stright away ?????
what about battery life i have herd its only 3 hours ?????? talktime
Can anyone confirm th video recording mode in the U600 is it the old qcif mode, or the the higher cif resolution. As i feel this is an important point to clarify for anyone considering buying this phone
I just had a play with a U600 in a Phones4U in Putney, London, England. a) It DOES have an FM Radio (under the Applications menu) b) It DOES have a voice recorder, and it's very quick to activate using just two key presses. c) The camera IS autofocus and quicker than prior Samsungs. The phone is very versatile with a very bright screen. The only flaw is that unlike Samsung's other well constructed phones, the slider on the (working) shop demo model did rattle a bit, but it may have been damaged. I am deciding between the even more sexy LG Prada (similar features) and ths U600. Hmm, decisions. Either way, I win. :-)
how is the sound quality on this phone (mp3) is it comparable to sony w series ??? really thinking about getting this phone.
can someone pls let me know ...thx
Hi. I currently own the D800. The keypads look very similar... if anyone has had experience of both could you please tell me how they compare. Thanks!
Had the U600 for about a week now and not really getting on with it! (It replaced my D600)
The touch sensitive keys are very annoying - every time I go to do something I accidentally press the cancel one and go straight back to the home screen!
I can't figure out a way to put it on silent and have the ring and text msg alert on vibrate without going in and having to change them seperately.
The texting is very annoying. Again the touch sensitive keys are an issue and the normal keys are so hard to press. Also the 0 is no longer there to change the word on predictive text, you now have to use up or down arrow. I am finding it slow to text compared to my D600 which is very comfortable.
On a plus note, I'm pretty pleased with the camera, but haven't owned anything over 2mp to compare it with.
I may consider sending this back and going back to D600 which is a shame as the phone looks really good.
Just to let you know I am the proud owner of this phone as of yesterday, got it on O2 for all you Brits.
Anyway to answer some questions...
SILENT MODE - The phone does have a silent mode which is initiated by holding down the hash key. Doing so again released the phone from silent mode.
SOFTKEYS - the keys that are visible on the front of the phone when the slider is closed are very much like the touch keys on the E900, but I've gotten used to them already.
CAMERA - I've only experimented a little with the camera and suffice to say it was better than the one on my old phone (Razr v3i) I wouldnt reccomend using it as your be all and end all camera, just go buy an ixus :)
BATTERY LIFE - No idea I'm still waiting for the 'life out of the box' to die before I charge it up first time.
ERGONOMICS - Well it's not exactly heavy. However, this has to be the flimsiest phone I've ever had. It feels particulaly flimsy when the slider is active and your using the keypad. The keys seem quite stiff, much more so than the razr v3i. If youve got big
fingers this ain't the phone for you!
VIDEO - Havnt played with this bit yet.
BUNDLED PACKAGE - Quite satisfied, came with a pretty substantial software suite that deals with managing the data on the phone such as contacts, pics and vids, and transferring them between phone and pc. Also included in this is photo and video editing, where you can touch up photos to remove redeye etc.
MISC. - This phone doesnt make a sound when you slide it open/closed like on an older samsung model (cant remember which one).
OVERALL - So far so good from my perspective. I got this phone because of its incredibly small size, plus I really like the looks of it - even in the 'Saphire Blue' color it looks great, quite executive. I'd be interested to see what it lookes like in 'Platinum,' but I was in a rush to upgrade from my old phone. Plus, this phone does everything I want a phone to do. Sure there may be other phones with better specs and features that blow this phone out of the water, but I am never likely to use such features if I had them.
It's been a long time since Samsung best model was the D900. Should hurry to launch this one !
Of course this phone has at least Cif video of 352x288. These are new phones from Samsung you know...
On the site you have posted, still it has an error and all spec are temporary. In pixmania.com stated that there is no voice recording and I believe all those spec written are based on gsm arena as well. So personally, I should wait for the final spec announcement that will come from samsungmobile.com. Surely these specs will be changed.
its not what we consider that counts ,is what the actual phone has its self.
we do all wish that the phone can record video in cif 352x288 or higher but it dosen't. here is the specs that i found :
yes ,the phone has tv out but it still take vids in acient resolution 176x144 which is unaspected...
another thing people, it will be ironic if this phone will have a video of 176X144 knowing that this U600 has TV out, will that is silly. If a phone has a TV out it must have a resolution of 352X288 (CIF) or 640X480 (VGA) resolution so that it will have a descent representation on your TV screen.
Well mick, hidden bits and GSM arena, why did you not think of that?
does the u600 have screensavers capabilities?or wallpapers? and how sensitive is the keypad? ihave a z510 and the keypad is drivin me crazy with itz keypad (way too sensitive) and hoe long is the battery life?
i have to charge my phone every 2nd day cause it will die on me!!!!1
