The "R" in the green square indicates that your phone operates in a roaming network (not your own carriers network.)
If you are supposed to be in your carriers network, try to check out the network settings (something about chose standard carrier or something. -the phone will have to restart)
video length can be changed from "mms length" to "limited to memory" under video recorder settings. open camera, (or application settings under settings) and press the setting button (right soft key) and chose camcorder. there, you'll find all the necessary settings for quality and length.
Can anyone tell me what the icon on top of the screen is, it's an "R" inside a green square... And i'm wondering how i get the video recordings to last more then 30 sec =/
hm.. Only way to avoid - that I can think of right now - would be to disable sms as a shortcut.. (cause I recon that's how your messages have been sent.? like click left on the scroll wheel?) That way, sending sms whilst having the device in your pocket etc. would be a bit harder cause it'll have to go through a lot more menu choises..
I've had this phone on Vodafone for 3 days. One important difference btw u600 and u700 is the unlock button. On u700, you just have to push the central button twice - yesterday my phone sent 14 blank txt messages whilst in my handbag - NICE. If anyone has any ideas on how to get around this would love to hear them!
AT&T use GSM - look at the iPhone =p I know some carriers use 850 and/or 1900 MHz band in America.. Check with your carrier..
Mike, dont take my words for definite but here goes. From what i know, majority of USA doesnt use sim cards in "cell phones". Hence i doubt that the GSM phones will work in the states. But i believe there are a few select carriers that do provide GSM support. Other then that i dont think u will be able to use any GSM cell phones. This applies for everywhere else in the globe that doesnt use sim cards.
Guys, the 26th is tmr! Info is from a reliable source although nothing is definite. Phone is coming to optus. As for prices and plans, noone will know till tmr. Even then, it depends if the stock is delivered to the store. Not long of a wait! Raid them fone shops tmr morning! i know i will.
Forgot to put my name on the post below. =p
Some of the vids on Youtube at lest show you the functions - tho they often speak another language, some of the vids show an english edition of the hand device.. look and learn. =D
@GQ: I'm currently waiting for mine (only looked at it and some of it's functions through a friend) but somehow, something happened with the delivery, so I won't get it before sometime in August.. (live in Norway)
but I do have the Samsung z720 in my hands, if you wonder about anything - menu etc. they're almost the same except better cam and mp3 player on u700 + some extra features..
hi im stuck between U700 and U600, do they both do vivid text messaging? this is a decider for me! thanks!
hi can anyone tell me if the u700 can multi task in any way? (playin mp3s and runnin a java app, or suspendin an application)
Hmm. check out some videos on YouTube (search for samsung u700) and also remember to check out the review here on gsmarena! (they have posted many pictures of the phone)
thanks for properly answering an responding to my question Rune...Big help :)
can any who owns the phone post a picture of its use of visability in the daylight.
Yes indeed, but you can change it to post it-notes or colorful numbers, or the regular straight Arial/Verdana font or something. You can customize the coloring and everything.
Yes, this phone does have the pencil font when dialing...
I bought this phone last week and i am very disappointed. The little "touch screen" buttons are extremely unresponsive/irritating/sensative.
You CANT change themes, or change msg alerts to mp3 tones..
My D500 was sooo much better and faster..
