Samsung Wallet is launching in more European markets this Friday

Samsung Wallet was already available in parts of Europe, but not everyone on the Old Continent has access to it. Starting on Friday, folks from three more countries will join the “in” crowd as Samsung just announced that Wallet is coming to Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (aka Benelux).

If you haven’t heard of Samsung Wallet before, it’s a digital storage space for things like ID cards, membership cards, boarding passes and even car keys. For example, boarding passes for KLM and Air France can be stored in Wallet, along with Flying Blue Miles from affiliated airlines.

Select cars have ways to create virtual keys that you can use from your phone – or to lend out to your friends and family to use. Certain models from BMW, Mini, Volvo, Polestar, Audi, Kia and Hyundai are supported (check below for more detailed list).

Note that Samsung Wallet will be available in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg starting on February 7 (this Friday). It’s no coincidence that this is also the launch date of the new Galaxy S25 series – this feature requires One UI 7, which is currently available only for the S25 phones. S24 and older phones will be updated to version 7, of course, but it will take time.

The launch in Benelux sounds like the start of a wider rollout. Here’s what Paul Kerkhof, Business Development Manager Samsung Wallet at Samsung Electronics Benelux, had to say: “Because we strongly believe in open ecosystems, it is our ambition to continue expanding Samsung Wallet with new local partners and developers. More news about that soon!”

By the way, with this update, features like Samsung Pass (which stores your passwords) will be moved under the Wallet app.

Samsung Wallet holds very important digital items and Samsung has tasked its Knox system with protection – this includes fingerprint scanning and encryption for sensitive data. Particularly sensitive documents are stored separately from the rest of your files in an isolated environment.

Below is a list of cars compatible with Samsung Wallet’s Digital Car Key feature. As for phones, you need a Galaxy S20 or newer (including FE models), Z Flip 5G or newer, Z Fold2 or newer. The Galaxy Note20 series is also on the list.
