The Samsung X160 has Agere System and Agere system phones usually have calendar up to 10 years past the year of release

Just set the year to 1998 (same calender as 2015) and everything still works fine!

As for the date problem (dates after yr 2014 can't be set), I don't think there is a solution. It seems that Samsung simply never thought that anyone would be using this phone for this long. It is rather silly that we should have to get a new one just because of this - at least in my case, since my new one is the Samsung E1150, which has more or less the same specifications.
