Remember S Translator? It was introduced with the Galaxy S4 back when Samsung was trying to offer its own apps as alternatives to Google software, including things like the S Voice digital assistant.
S Voice was shut down on June 1 of this year and its friend S Translator will meet the same fate on December 1. Samsung sent out notifications to users that the service will be discontinued.
The company suggests that you can use Bixby when you need something translated. The oft-maligned digital assistant previously also took over S Voice. Of course, you can use any of the several translation apps available in the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store as well.
S Translator survived until very recently, it was featured on flagships like the Galaxy Note9 in late 2018 and even the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Fold 5G in early 2019. Here’s the list of all affected models:
Smartphones: Galaxy S3 Neo, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 mini, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 active, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 +, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 +, Galaxy S10e , Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 +, Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note3, Galaxy Note4, Galaxy Note4 edge, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy Note FE, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Fold 5G, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy A8 Star, Galaxy A9, Galaxy C8, Galaxy C5 Pro, Galaxy C7, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Grand2, W2018, W2019 etc.
Tablets: Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Galaxy Tab S 10.5, Galaxy Tab S 8.4 , Galaxy Tab4, Galaxy Tab4 8.0, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 etc.
Back then you could have a conversation with the phone. But it all changed with s6. Then it ended just like today. I'll look that up for you. Samsung lost their unique touch after s5.
I use the translator occasionally. Ideally it should be integrated into Samsung Browser like on Chrome whereby you can set it to automatically translate.
before S-voice, also existed Vlingo on Galaxy S2. so Vlingo > S-Voice > Bixby and i also hope Bixby will follow up to grave, really disturbing feature
