trekbuddy software lets you use offline maps from either mmc or phone flash. for detailed info please visit www.trekbuddy.net.

ı use my own scanned maps after calibration and also you can use maps captured from googlemaps. all details are on above mentioned link.

yes you can absouletly upgrade firmware yourself.
all you need is a data cable dca-540. it is the cable used with sx1.

Can you use the GPS outside Germany (Eastern Europe), and without downloading maps through 3G/GPRS (every time)???
I've learned that it has 2 GPS programs! Is it true?
Can you use it with maps saved on the RS-MMC?
How about the memory? Is it realy RS-MMC or just plain MMC??

Thanx!

Thank you for your post, I will definitely buy this phone, too bad Siemens no longer makes mobile phones. Also does anybody know is it possible to install firmware on my own, without going to service?

I'm not sure, but for this phone the "newest" software is 22. The company doesn't not longer exist, so it will be difficult to get some new software for the phone. I still have many problems with my phone and the only way is to send it back to the retailer (amazon.de)Some update partner (if you find one :-)will charge you here in Germany. I called last year two update partners and they are not able to install the 22 software!
