Sonim Misc

Sonim Technologies announced the latest addition to their family of rugged phones, the Sonim XP3 Enduro, advertized as the world's only rugged fully submersible GSM mobile phone.

While the specifications remain almost the same as those of the original Sonim XP1, the new XP3 Enduro has become tougher and meaner.

The phone can withstand more shocks and drops than its predecessor and can also be fully submersed for 30 minutes up to a meter deep. On top of this, it is certified to withstand a drop to concrete from as high as 2 meters.

The XP3 boasts an IP-57 protection rating and is designated with a 810F Military grade rating for salt, fog, humidity, transport and thermal shock. The phone is rugged in every detail - the keyboard buttons are tested to function beyond 500,000 pushes while the Sonim XP3 is capable of operating as long as it's needed under temperatures ranging from -20C to +60C.

Sonim XP3 Enduro dimensions have grown and it's 24.6 mm thick as opposed to the 22mm thickness of its predecessor Sonim XP1.

The new device is also equipped with a more powerful 1180 mAh battery. Another important improvement is the option to synchronize the phonebook with MS Outlook, which lacked in the XP1.

Sonim XP3 also has the trademark unconditional three-year warranty as the original phone.

The Sonim XP3 will be available in Sweden, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in November 2008 at an estimated price of about 290 euro (370 US dollars) after taxes and subsidies. The global availability of the device will follow in Q1 and Q2 2009.

You can also have a look-see at a promo video clip that the Sonim squad has cooked for you, promoting the water resistance of XP3.
