Sony Ericsson announce C903 and C901 Cyber-shots along with W395

10 Feb, 2009

Sony Ericsson MWC 2009

The Sony Ericsson C903 and C901 were both outed today (though the C901 went online secretly), while the W395 is an entry Walkman slider. It seems like that the week that competing marketing teams collide has barely started.

Sony Ericsson obviously decided to follow LG and Samsung by announcing a bunch of mobiles only days before the MWC 2009.

Sony Ericsson C903 Cyber-shot

The Sony Ericsson C903 Cyber-shot (a.k.a. Frances) was already featured in several news reports but it's finally here now. Somewhat resembling the LG KC780 but with a back panel inspired by Sony digicams, the Sony Ericsson C903 is all about imaging with its 5 megapixel auto focus camera with face and smile detection plus geotagging.

Quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA support join the GPS receiver on board. Turn-by-turn navigation is provided by the Wayfinder Navigator 7 application, but there is Google Maps pre-installed as well.

The Sony Ericsson C903 Cyber-shot has a standard SE issue 2.4-inch TFT display with QVGA resolution. This time around SE are claiming that the screen has received some sort of an anti-scratch treatment.

A M2 memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth support, an accelerometer for auto screen rotation and motion gaming complete the C903 feature list.

The Sony Ericsson C903 Cyber-shot should be available in Lacquer Black, Techno White, Glamour Red in Q2 2009, but its expected price is not yet known.

Sony Ericsson C901 Cyber-shot

The second Cyber-shot officially revealed today is the Sony Ericsson C901 Cyber-shot, also known as Filippa and a regular in quite a lot of leaks.

At 13mm thickness, the Sony Ericsson C901 Cyber-shot joins the rather large 5 megapixel gang that's already on the market. The cool thing about though is that it's got a xenon flash, face and smile detection, Smart Contrast, BestPic, geo-tagging, active lens cover and much more.

The new C901 Cyber-Shot features a 262K color QVGA TFT display and has 3G support, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The other specs include FM radio, built-in accelerometer, M2 slot.

Sony Ericsson C901 Cyber-shot will be available in Noble Black, Sincere Silver and Precious Peach. It will be hit the shelves in Q2 this year, but at this point there is no information about pricing.

Sony Ericsson W395 Walkman

And finally, there's a Walkman in the mix today - the Sony Ericsson W395 Walkman. Much like the Sony Ericsson C903 and C901, the W395 is also a good old acquaintance.

The lower midrange Sony Ericsson W395 sports a 2-inch TFT scratch-resistant display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, a 2 megapixel snapper, FM radio, M2 memory slot with 1GB card included and purportedly extra powerful built-in stereo speakers with nice bass.

The W395 connectivity options include stereo Bluetooth and USB.

Sony Ericsson W395 will be available in Dusky Grey, Blush Titanium in Q1 2009, but there's still no clarity on the price tag.
