Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Get c510 not c702. The c702 is very slow and has same camera module.
I know the ****ing phone is a low-midrange one,and I don't expect the lens to be like whoa shit this shoots like my Nikon DSLR or something.Even though it's just a 3.2mp it can still be equipped with Xenon.I do k850 is'nt more stable than the c510.But come on.What I really want to say is,that SE should make a better low midrange cyber-shot phone, like putting a Xenon flash.I admit that the c510 is a capable phone, but it's like Sony ericsson isn't putting any much effort.
Just look the new C901 has a Xenon flash,5mp,smile shutter and face detection but the problem is it's not available worldwide. But the c903 which also has a 5mp.smile shutter and face detection, yep it's almost worldwide, but unfortunately it is only equipped with dual led.
I accept that the c510 has a good new features,as like the smile shutter and the face detection, which my k800i lacked, but what the c510 lacks was the good old bloodline of the cyber-shot family just as the elderly k550 lacked and that was Good old image quality.See?Maybe even now the elderly k810i is cheaper than the c510.But the k810i is still equipped with Xenon. So why not make future models which has a 3.2megapixel equipped with xenon and equipped it with the dun extras like smile shutter.
I liked the c510 as a phone, but as a camera it failed to impress me.

Your all missing the point here. Its a budget camera phone and for what it offers for little money its great. You expect too much from a tiny lens im tiny phone. Its only 3 mega pixels. Mostly for fun snaps ribs taken outside look clear sharp on screen. Tweak your settings experiment. Why oh why do you all keep moaning if you dont like it dont buy it. Sony Ericsson done well to put this many features in cheap phone.
se k850 is better.
but its software seem to have so much problem.
se c510 camera is poor.
but its software is more stable.
so much prob frm SE.
SE design >>>>>>> Nokia.
Nokia software >>>>> Se.
low-mid end phone only.
se should put more effort on this phone.

A cyber-shot camera phone is made for fusing a camera and a phone. So it should be capable of making pictures right?? I know the c510 has a slimmer body. But when you have another gadget, like another Digicam or an mp3 player.Would'nt that make your bag Chunky and bulky?? Ok let's say another example,is that you left your camera at home all you got is your c510 but your in a night club, how do you make good indoor pictures with that?? What Im just saying here is that the c510 is meant to be a digital camera not just a phone.Right??
Well even though Xenon is build with a thicker body,it can be also be put in a slimmer body, but acceptable, even the Sony Digital Camera T-series are equipped with Xenon even though in a slim body.I know it's a phone not a camera, but in today's technology it is now possible, even the k810's thickness is still acceptable.A Cyber-Shot camera phone should bring good camera qualities even at night not to ruin it.And hey k810i did prove it by beating the waistline of the k800i so why not try it again??
cant expect much wif camera phone.
digital camera > > > camera phone.

A sensible explanation to the problem for "poor" camera performance of C510.
Don't overlook the 'budget shooter' side - after all, the phone is advertised as such: The pictures from the c510 are real poor, grainy and usually washed out, with huge color balance issues. Only best exposure over contrasted background (and no direct sunlight) and a very still subject will get you something worth as low as a Tweet or a Facebook post; autofocus takes ages, instant, action shots are impossible - you need to focus in advance, like on digital cameras from 10 years ago. Goodies like Smile Recognition takes ages too to decide wether your friend is actually smiling or facing trouble with yesterday's curry - that's even more likely if you have to ask them to keep on smiling forever!
Night/dark shots are reported to be less than good, and I can confirm they just turn out a wash of short-range white flash or a full dark blurr of black pixels.
The 3x zoom is actually a divider on the cmos, so if you shoot at 3.2Mp, you do not have a zoom: you need to lower your resolution, and then the pictures become really, really un-usable. And since the phone's screen is quite good, you'll notice it quite immediately.
With a phone that barely makes a decent picture at only the highest resolution, the bundled 'correcting' softwares are pretty useless, and more so that there isn't a resizing feature to allow you to spare your friends checking on a 600ko grainy pic that could weight 50 perfectly well (if not 5) - dataplan-wise, savetheplanet-wise, webspeed-wise, this is a shame.
Everything 3G/Connectivity is real great, design is on the flashy side of Girly Cool in white/red; interface can be less than intuitive though with 'applications' residing in the, guess what? ...Organiser folder! The Tilt sensor works not with every app, or just does not depending on where you are looking at your pictures from.
Facebook is reportedly included, but that depends on country/operator, so check it out before buying because it is not a simple Java download, this is something straight from the factory - you have it or you don't. And of course I don't. The official Sony-Ericsson .cz website reports this app to be full of bugs anyway; I hacked mine into it and you can't upload a picture, only post/follow text feeds.
All-in-all, a huge deception that was intended to be the latest in social blogging tool as a present for my very connected daughter A cool shooter to share her teenager life on Facebook. We got nothing of that, and boy, she worked hard at school to deserve it!
i expected better. but i guess the camera performance of a phone all boils down to the camera sensor/module used.

Its a good phone.
Before i bought this phone, i used k750i, so i was thinking the cam features. specially the flash would be same, but then, its later i realized it was not so.
That meant I had to forget how i used the k750i and start afresh. The flash is good for close night time pics.
As for night time, all cameras, need proper light, if there is insufficient light, the pic is bound to be bad. I have no complaints about the phone.
A person has to use the phone for 1 whole day, read the manual properly and most importantly, forget abt all the phones used in order to enjoy this phone
