Having been a Nokia user for the past 10 years, I never expected SE to catch up again. But SE seems to have finally done so with the release of Cedar. This phone seems to have hit the jackpot with all the right features - 3.5mm jack, microSD, VGA video recording, 3g with video calling,... at a very good price point too. Its a masterpiece. Way to go, SE.

The only thing they haven't done their homework on is the software. The OS isn't as customizable and user friendly as Nokia's S40 and typing SMSs still gives me the jitters.(or has it improved?)

It is my first Sony Ericsson after many years and a number of Nokia handsets and I must admit that I am really happy with it.
Cedar is not the high-end product and you shouldn't expect any mind-blowing features. But it doesn't feel very cheep like some other handsets. Screen is decent, keyboard is quite comfortable and almost no laging. Web browsing is a pleasure (especially with Opera mobile). It is not a dedicated music handset but for casual listening with a good pair it is quite good. Camera is just OK, but I think it is a little bit more than suitable for your mobile social life. And it has a micro-USB and 3,5mm audio jack! :)
Of course, it has some cons too. For example you can't change functions for left and right soft keys (maybe new software will change it?), you can't rearrange main menu, some things like Google maps or notes are not placed quite logical. But hey, even best phones out there have some cons :)
All in all I think it is a good low-cost phone for a non-demanding user, who wants a decent handset without paying an Earth :)

Give Cedar Some time, now-a-days even the best of companies bring out products that are half baked(Did Some Say Nokia.... Apple....) & Later firmware update take of their short comings. My Honest opinion is that.... wait for at least 2 firmware updates before being too harsh on Cedar....

Of Course It's Just My Personal Opinion....
