I have been using this phone for 2 months.

The only thing that makes me feel upset is the fact that the chrome colour of the keypad (answer-left button and right-cancel button goes of within max. 2 weeks and making it look ugly.
Also the chrome cover of the camera scratches quickly.

Stupid thing chrom design.

I have been using this phone for a month. This phone is a standby phone for me as my Sony Ericsson P1i is in hospital for a month plus.

    Advantages:
    1. Phone is sleek and light in weight
    2. Feature Rich
    3. Good Music and Media Manager
    4. Excellent Screen
    5. Internet surfing is cool with Opera (Opera needs to be downloaded)

    Disadvantages:
    1. Keypad sucks
    2. Colour of the keypad goes of within 1 week (chrome colour) making it look ugly.
    3. Handsfree in the package is a real cheap one.
    4. No data cable with the pack.
    5. Supports only 2GB of external memory and package doesn't have any memory card.

I have no much problem with dis-advantages 4 and 5 as I have already procured it. The main problem is keypad.

Overall it is value for money.

I've seen G502 in silver. It looks better. Planning to buy it, but wondering if the paint will peel off. I've read the issue about the silver paint in the keypad peeling off. What kind of materials did SE use?

Shino03, 01 Sep 2008You have said that the web sucks or in a proper way, doesn't look good because it's too slow. ... moreAgreed 3G is not here in India, so any web browser can run slow.
But that doesnt explain why another web-browser say Opera-mini runs at amazing speed and the built-in web browser doesnt even loads a single page properly. I have even tried performing updates and reflashing the handset, its still the same. It explains why I praised the built in browser just for its looks and features, not for performance.

G502 is a good looking phone...very light, but the Battery is horrible…I have been using it for the last 2 weeks…the battery does not last for one complete day. Camera is ok not very good!! Because of absence of flash cannot click in low light or in night.

                              Pros:

                              > Excellent 2MP camera.
                              > Excellent connectivity, GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA (3G).
                              > Good interface speed.
                              > Fast camera.
                              > QVGA (240x320 pixel) video recording.
                              > High quality plastic.
                              > Decent keypad.
                              > Typical SE sound clearity.
                              > Based on latest SE Java platform (8), thus supports latest applications and meet Java standardisation.
                              > Supports online payment transactions through web, supports security and encryprion.
                              > Good battery backup.
                              > Supports larger sized (more than 1 MB) java files.
                              > Solid construction no creeks.
                              > Value for money.

                              Cons:
                              > Audio from external speaker is average but crystal clear.
                              > Keypad buttons situated closely, takes little time to get used to.
                              > Common port to connect charger/heaphone/data cable.
                              > Headphone supplied by SE is average, not very loud.
                              > No video call camera.
                              > No flash & auto focus.

Toughest competition comes from Nokia 3120 classic, which is also very competent phone. One major limitation with Nokia is that it doesn't support java file above 1 MB.

Choice is up to buyer what he/she likes, i recommend G502.
