it's not cool. it's crappy. it hangs at the most random of times. you will need to open the back and take out the battery at the dead of the night just to restart it. it's so annoying.

len, 17 May 2009Been using this G700 phone for about 5 months now, the touchscreen was OK, it does freeze some... moreas we all know, there are thousands of g700 produced by different makers/manufacturer's worldwide. maybe the ones you got is the lemon one. well we cannot blame sony ericsson for that, as ive said, there are thousands of g700 was produced by different people who assembled it. lets just hope that the sony ericsson management be considerate when things like this happened. so far my g700 is doing ok.
Been using this G700 phone for about 5 months now, the touchscreen was OK, it does freeze sometimes but that was OK at least for me. I had no major problems...not until last week. I just noticed that the text messages (SMS) were getting delayed for over 4hours! i assumed it was just an issue with my network operator but it got worse, now it's not just the text msging but the calls were also not getting in. i'm unable to recieve and make phone calls at all. i've never dropped this phone whatsoever, took care of it because i really liked it and i don't understand why it's acting up. i did a software update but it didn't help. i called my service provider and they told me it's a phone issue. i tried to call the number posted on SE's website but no one's picking up the phone. I am a first time Sony Ericsson user and this experience is really disappointing. I've been a Nokia user for over 10yrs, i had NO problem at all. i've over 10 nokia handsets that are perfectly working (even the old ones)but for some reason,i decided to try out SE, which was a bad idea unfortunately, unless SE will fix this problem. i already sent SE an email and still awaiting for their answer. SE phones are not even comparable with Nokia phones. This SE G700 is just a waste of money. For those who are planning of buying an SE handset, dont just think twice but think a hundred times LOL go for NOKIA phones :-)
i am plannin to buy a new phone and i hav G700 in my list, can i buy this one or is there any oter better models
Poor quality handset and poor customer service
If Sony Ericsson is a customer driven organization, committed to
delight the customers as you claim I am afraid there is a lot lacking in
the way you treat customers. There is an absolute disregard for a
customer’s time and your service is far below even average customer
It has been way over a month now since i have been without a phone
I am will again emphasis how deeply frustrated and disgusted I am with
My case history is as follows:
1. I had given my Sony Ericsson G700 handset for repairs to an
Authorized Service Centre (Raja Electronics and Services Pvt Ltd, New
Modikhana, M.G Road, and Pune) on the 2nd of April 2009. Following were
the problems with the phone which were mentioned to the service centre at
the time of submitting the handset:
1. The volume of incoming calls was very low. Hence calls were
2. The phone kept hanging and the screen would freeze up frequently
3. The touch screen developed spots on the screen
4. Music on the phone would keep skipping
5. Phone would restart frequently and phone book memory would often
6. The phone would freeze up on incoming calls thereby making it
impossible to answer calls or cut them
The service centre took the phone in and mentioned a time of one week to
fix the problems.
A week later I visited the service station to collect my phone only to
realize that NONE of the above problems were rectified. To top it off the
service centre said that the mother board of the phone needed to be
replaced which would take another week. I was very patient and agreed to
them wiping off all information on the phone and asked to be informed when
the part would be available. I was given to understand that the order was
placed and I would receive my phone within a week.
2. A week later I called the service centre again only to be informed
that they had still not received the part. Again this was after being
assured that I would receive it within a week. Also during this entire
period of three weeks I received no update on the status of my phone from
the service centre. It was me who had to keep calling and checking on the
status, which I must say is really appalling for a supposedly customer
driven organization which you claim to be.
3. I finally decided to make a formal complaint of this matter online
as well as through your toll free number (1800-11-1800) on 22nd April
2009. I registered my complaint with a customer care executive named
Ruchita who noted down my complaint (Complaint ID: SE1490-2446) and gave
me the famous reply “We will escalate the matter to the higher authorities
and get back to you within 48 hours on the status of your case” With
great hopes I waited for 48 hours with no response finally I called the
toll free number again this time I spoke to another Customer Care
Executive (Nafeez) who again gave we your trademark reply “We will
escalate the matter to the higher authorities and get back to you within
48 hours on the status of your case” However this time he assured me a
call back to update me on the case.
4. A few days later (27th April 2009) I had still received no call
back from Nafeez and decided to call again. Needless to say I spoke to
another customer care executive Kuldeep and received the same lip service
as before. I asked to speak to the floor manager at this juncture hoping
to get some clarity on the matter. After being put on hold for 15-20mins I
finally spoke to Mr. Harish Mathur who asked me to be patient (after
waiting for a month – how much more patient can I be) and said that he
would personally get in touch with me before the end of the week (30th
April 2009). With much assurance from Mr Mathur I hung up hoping for a
5. Needless to say I received no such call from him. Today (4th May
2009) I called the service centre once again only to find that no one is
answering calls. I decided to call the toll free number and got a chance
to meet with my old friend Mr Nafeez again who again updated me saying
that the part has been obtained and is being check and analyzed (I wonder
what analysis goes on) and will be dispatched. With much frustration and
with absolutely no faith in Sony Ericsson I asked to speak to Mr Harish
Mathur – Floor Supervisor. However Nafeez said he would arrange for a call
back, which I flatly refused given how punctual and how wonderful your
service has been in the past. I asked to speak to Mr Mathur immediately
after which I was put on hold for 25 mins. This happened not just once but
for the next 5 times when I called back.
6. A week later i called the customer complaints number again only to talk to a Mr. Vikrant Pharma who was supposedly handling the matter now. He assured me that he had spoken to the concerned people and that i would get my phone back within a week. (which i assumed as seven days). A few days later i received a call (much to my surprise) from Mr Vikrant and he said that i would get my phone the very next day (meaning Wednesday 13th May) he said he would inform me when to visit the service station. On wednesday i got a call from Vikrant saying that it still wasnt ready and that i would get it on Thursday this time for sure. On thursday i received no call from Mr Pharma though and much to my disgust and anger i had to call back. Only this time Mt Vikrant would not take my calls and i was told to be patient and give them some more time (i hear this after waiting for a month)
7. Then i received a call from Mr Rane of Accel Frontline (supposedly the Main Authorised Sont Ericsson center) Mr Rane again made me repeat my complaint and said i would get my phone on Saturday (16th May) and that he would call and inform me when to visit the service station. Needless to say i received no call from Mr Rane and when i tried to contact him his cell phone was switched off.
8. Feeling completely helpless i called the Sony Complaints desk again only to be put on hold till i finally get to speak to Mr. Harish Mathur (yes the man i had spoken to in the first place and who disappeared) He was very arrogant to tell me that my phone was not ready and that i would have to wait till Wednesday to get it. When i asked him what guarantee do i have he had nothing to say. And he was arrogant enough to tell me that thats all he could do and that i should be patient and wait. Talk about pathetic customer service
9. I have truly given up on this façade of Customer Service that your
company claims to live by. I think for someone who has been a Sony
Ericsson customer for the last 10 years I have sincerely lost faith in
your company and organization as a whole. Not only is your customer
service bad but your product quality also seems to be poor and I don’t
even want to comment on your service policy or your parts availability. I
sincerely request you not to return my phone or provide me with a new
handset but to kindly refund my money so that I can at least purchase a
handset of a brand that lives by its promise of customer service.
I still await an update from either the service centre or the main
complaint centre on the status of my phone which I have not used in over a
I have totally lost faith in this company and your levels of customer service. I assure you that upon receiving my phone the first thing i do is walk up to a mobile store sell it for whatever price and pick up a reliable Nokia handset. Atleast their customer service has replaced handsets in the past.
Keep up the poor service.
