Thanx Colnagoguy, but its sad news for me.
Ppl who have probs with file manager not connecting with phone try this- Go to
Control panel-system-harware-device manager – ports(COM & LPT). Identify the port that your phone is connected to. And on the phone monitor programme, enable that COM port.
Halo
Is it possible to turn the display off during the call? When I'm talking the display is lighted all time, even in the "power save" mode and in "display off". Help plz
Ana,
you've got to buy DCU-11 cable with the driver disc separately, as far as I know it's not included in the phone package. After having bought, install the driver, additional software for your phone and use it to synchronize the device with your PC.
Plz can anyone tell me what's that DCU-11 & Synchronization & USB port & how to use them ?Are they present in Phone or Should be brought separately.
thanking you all in advance.
I have SE K300i and DCU-11 cable . I use MyPhoneExplorer to view my files on my mobile. Most of times, when I try to connect, it says "could not open COM port." A few time only, I was able to connect. Same thing with SE PC Suite and Float's Mobile Agent. Also, tell me what speed setting should I use. I have USB 2.0. Please help.
Colnagoguy, yes, I know and that really gets me: maybe the answ. machine is not meant for this class of phone, but was is that difficult to make all other common functions available.
One more question: is it somehow possible to charge the battery with DCU-11 cable? Sounds weird, but the phone - while being connected to PC and turned on - flashes "Optimized charging" and the icon is constantly pulsing, though the charge level remains the same (I use float's agent, should I switch to some other software?).
Thanks.
wondaboi,
the sms sounds cannot be changed other than the pre-installed.
Colnagoguy,
thanx for the info, seems it was too hard for SE to implement the answ. machine. Well ok, this function is perhaps for business class only, but what about SMS tone changing (there're only 6-7 default sounds)? Rather strange. And still, it's a good device, worth its price.
Guile and others regarding DCU-11 cable,
here is a FAQ regarding this cable:

Michael, Deshan;
The camera sound noise is present in many K300 phones due to legal issues in these countries or due to operator demands (fear of helping people taking "naughty" photos).
Due to these demands, Sony Ericsson has a software in some countries which always has the camera sound ON. Due to software requirements Sony Ericsson has this software fix in all languages which have corresponding countries/operators with these demands. They can even even have it for all countries in the same batch of countries.
Essentially; either you have the possibility to turn it off via silent mode or not (just try and see).
You CAN fix this problem by changing the software, but then you void the guarantee, since Sony Ericsson will not do this. The question is if it is worth all the hassle?
Simon Pattison,
why do you want to change the housing? Do you know of any other colours than grey/silver and blue/silver?
vince,
Difference betwn ctn screen and tft screen is that TFT has much better quality. TFT also sucks up more battery. IF LCD is important for you then go for TFT.
wondaboi,
there is no answering machine on the K300i. Probably your operator can give you this service and most probably they will charge you for this service.
siemens c75 display is much better dan it bt still i do prefer dis 1..i dunno why :S
Hello again, I just found out that I can buy the DCU 11 Cable for £8.00 so I don't need no-more help :) Thanks :D
Infrared rawks. I got too much off my friend. K300i Is a great phone, I'll never buy a new one! (I bet I will)
I connect my k300i phone with a DCU-11 data cable. It worked fine with my earlier PC(810e Motherboard, 1.1 USB). Since, I got a new PC(Intel D101GGC Mobo,2.0 USB), it has worked only once, that too after a lot tinkering around. But, it just fails to work. The yellow checkmark just goes on blinking and doesnt turn green. Can anyone say what the problem is?
BTW 2 all those desperately trying to connect their phone to a PC. After having messed up with various drivers for DCU-11 I finally managed to establish connection with the "native" cable's driver on the CD and installed Float's Mobile Agent 2. Works fine for now. If you've got the cable but ain't got drivers, you may write here your mail and I'll send you the driver, I think it's worth trying, though I give no guarantee.
Hello, it's an absolutely fascinating phone (my brother owns it, I wouldn't by it due to its size (too small for me)). The menu is outstanding, battery life - awesome, have been working for a week already...lots of functions...a decent voice recorder...pretty cool device for such a class.
BUT: I can't find an answering machine there, thought it should be. The manual says: you can manage your answering machine with tone signals..bla bla...Or was it only voice mail, that had been meant there, and no answ. machine (i.e. a function that lets you record a message to a calling person, the latter being able to leave you a voice note after a signal)? Thank you.
