The screen does not go out when talking due to that one should be able to check in phonebook etc when talking.
There is one option which off course saves a lot of battery and that is to turn of the light ALL the time - main menu > settings > display (joystick right 2 times) > light > off. But then you need very good light all the time. I don't recommend it unless you are somewhere where you cannot charge and only will answer the phone or know the phone numbers you will phone without using the phonebook.
this phone is great. seems to have very good battery life. i've had it for a while and it lasts about 6 days (24/24h online)
I am surprised to see that the screen does not go out when talking...this would save even more battery
Did i miss the option
Apart from this, volume is good and strong (voice and ringtone)
My girlfriend has this phone so i know a bit about it. It doesnt compare at all to the K300. Although the screen is TFT, the display looks more cartoony than real images. Camera is slower as well.
plus indicates strength of Nokia 3220
minus indicates strength of K300
Nokia 3220 vs K300
===================
Better kind of display (TFT) (+)
Same size of display
Much less memory, 3 MB vs 10-12 MB (--) - is there much use of camera/video with so little memory?
VGA camera, same kind as K300
Video functionality, however can only record up to 4 minutes (-)
Changeable panels (+)
Less phone book memory for individual names (256 vs 510) (-)
Same standby (280 vs 300 hrs)
Half the talktime (3,5 vs 7hrs) (-)
No IR (-)
Less polyphonic channels (16 vs 40) (-)
Cannot play mp3 or acc audio-formats (-)
i understood that the software given by sony website are not suitable for sms sending and storing on pc. can third party software like float'Mobile agent is use full. pl tell me reg that.
Ive had videos like that before, i havent found a solution for them yet, i think its to do with the resolution of the video or something like that.

pls help me outt
The mp3 player capabilities of K300 is meant mainly for playing ringtones. It can play long duration audio files in size of 10 mb
but this actually requires that you do not use this memory for pictures/videos/sms etc.
10 mb of music usually means about 10 minutes of music, so again, the music capability isn't very big and it was never intended to be a music phone - Sony Ericsson has their Walkman phones for this.
The sound quality is quite good for a phone of this size and if you don't press the volume to the highest level (where it will sound more distorted). I have a 5 minute song which I play for my little son when he is bad-tempered ... works every time! :o)
The sound quality is much better than in Nokia 3510 which both had fewer polyphonic ring tones (3510i is the first phone from Nokia, which supported polyphony (4-tones vs K300i which has 40-tones)) and also had an average ring volume.
If the ring volume is high enough is both a matter of taste and about chosing the right ring signal. Ring signals with higher frequencies will sound higher. The ring signals of K300 are higher than Nokia 3510i.
I have a DCU-15 cable of K300i and everything is working fine.I suggest that buy a infrared cable/infrared USB port are more better because DCU cable very difficult to install to your computer although you hav e all the driver and software.Finnally,this phone is very good and cheap esp the camera.
Does anyone know hot to install a Java game through a data cable? Thank you.
Dear Colnagoguy,
i see u help alot of friends here and will be so thankful if u would help me.
i would like to ask about the mp3 player capabilities of K300. can it play long duration audio files in size of 10 mb also what about sound quality?
second, what about the ring volume, is it high enough? for example is it high like Nokia 3510i?
thanks so much
Myrcea, here is my opinion - first as in my earlier post:
"SIEMENS C75 vs K300
===================
Better kind of display (TFT) - same quality as K500
About the same amount of memory
VGA camera, same as K300
Less standby and talktime (-)
Cannot play mp3 or acc audio-formats (-)"
In additon;
software - K300 more stable
mechanical parts - K300 mechanics is better
signal strength - equal
So my recommendation is to go for the K300 if you haven't had a TFT display before in your previous phones. Otherwise you should go for the Siemens or consider the K500i.
You can send pictures to computer by USB cable but you need the correct accessory cable: Sony Ericsson DCU-11 which connects between the connector in the bottom of the phone (same which is used for charging) and the computer's USB port.
K300i SAR-value is 0.96W/kg (10g).

HEY TAVY ,
INTERESTINGLY THE WATCH DOESNOT SHOW UP IN STANDBY MODE IF YOUR light SETTING IS SET TO BE ON "Power Save , WHILE IF YOU SET THE LIGHT setting on CONTIOUS ON AFTER SOME TIME THE clock show up in WHITE Colour at the left Top most Corner with ur Choosen Format.
Another interesting info which doesn't relate your question is arrangment is the wrist strap that hooks underneath the battery cover to the rest of the handset.
Also if you are a new Sony Ericsson Customer this is new for you >> that , THE RED FLASH APPEARS in the Power button when Battery is Extremely low after a Loud tone of Warning is heard.
