I would recommend you to go to your operator's site (the one you pay your mobile phone bills to) and look there. If you still have problems I would recommend you to phone up your operator's helpdesk. For every mms, wap or email you send your operator will be making money, so it is in your operator's interest to help you!

Hi Colnagoguy!
I was wondering if there is another way to configure the WAP, GPRS and E-mail for my K-300. I checked in Sonyericsson.com but, since I am from Nicaragua, in Central America, it does not figures in the suport screem. Wondering if you culd help me out, Thanks!

Hi sanya, well i wud recommend K300i coz its a very gud phone. and besides tht, the camera of k300i is far better. u maybe confused about the display of the image on mobile but when u transfer it on PC, believe me the result is very good. u can chck it in the pictures given on this site(click on the pic of mobile on ur left). k300i can make video of about half an hour but 3220 has got no video. k300i has got MP3 player but 3220 don't hav 1. k300i has got infrared tht lets u to trasfer data from nd to the PC easily. 3220 don't has 1. nd abt th display. well its also good. nd u can get k300i cheaper than 3220. its the best phone as far as i can say. and i'm also going 2 buy 1 in 3,4 dayz. INSHAALLAH.. ok then c u.. nemore qs or nethng contact me on this id.. best_friend007@hotmail.com

Yes, the k300 has an internal modem
Nokia cables will not work, since you have to connect thru the Sony Ericsson bottom connector which is specific to Sony Ericsson. One should use the DCU 11 cable from Sony Ericsson if one isn't content with the IR port.

Nokia was released in April 2003, K300i in April 2004.
Nokia has 4k display, K300 has 65 k display
Nokia 6200 is larger
Nokia 6200 has 0,7 Mb space for user. K300 has 10-12 Mb.
Nokia 6200 has Edge, K300 doesn't.
Nokia 5200 has no camera. K300 has camera and video functionality
Nokias 6200 has FM radio, K300 doesn't.

Hello,
I was just given one of these phone to replace my Nokia 6200. I was tols this is a backward step. Also I did not get a user manual, is there any where where I can download a manual to get started? Thanks for your advice and thought on the Nokia 6200 vs the K300a

In some markets it's not possible to turn off the camera sound due to legal requirements (avoidance of peek photos).

The only thing I couldn't figure out is how to silence the soud it makes when you take a picture. is there any way to do it??? if someone knows, I'd appreciate the help

a) The reception is, I would say 9 out of 10. There are better handsets on the market, but this phone beats plenty of more expensive handsets. The transmission depends not only on the K300 but also on the base stations used by the operators and the receiving handset (and its reception!). Since we're discusing GSM it's digital - either very good or split in many parts - zero or one. The transmission from the K300 to the nearest base station is very good. The other factors actually do not depend on the K300 phone.
b) One selects the file one wants to send, click "more" (right button under screen), first alternative is "send". Click "send". Third alternative is "Via Infrared". Make sure the K300 IR Port points towards the other IR port. The computer will demand permission to get the file sent. It's quite intuitive.
c) To be able to check the internet by waping and using GPRS, one has to configure the phone. This must be done via internet with you having the phone on in your hand. You can either go to the SE site (www.sonyericsson.com/support) or your operator site. My own experience is that it is easier to do it via the SE site. You will be sent a configuration SMS which you just have to click "OK" and the work is done. To be extra sure, restart the phone (just like with a computer when you put in a new program).

Dear Colnagoguy,
I am planning to buy the K300i. Seeing your impressive expertise, please tell me:
a) How good is its reception? And is its transmission good for the party receiving the call
b) How to use the IR Port (assuming its properly configured at both pc and the k300i)?
c) For internet GPRS, does one have to get configuration done by registering with SE and receiving SMS or it can be done by individual himself or done oneself by getting settings from the service provider?
