ABout the Keypad tones.
i've tried activating the keypad tone of my phone and after that it works right away without turning off and turning on my phone. i left it unused for a while until it goes to power saving mode and when i use it again, the keypad tone is still functional.
it could be your firmware, im not sure. but i dont have that problem.
My k800i having the same problem too, the keypad tones went off after a while. Off the phone and On again the keypad tone came back but after it went off again.
I approached the shop which I bought the phone and they also not sure but I do not intend to bring to the service agent as the phone is so new and warranty date unfilled yet.
Though the camera has a built-in digicamera flash but wheh you take pictures sometime off the flash and pictures turned out better.
As for the sms/mms storage , I think can go more than a thousand. One thing the interface is very responsive (fast).
For me, I think 256mb came with the phone package are sufficient as the phone video do not take out much space (176X144) unlike VGA format unless you need to store many MP3 songs.
Lastly, you compare sonyericsson with nokia phones (btw, I use only se and nokia). The construction and the quality, se always more refined and more solid feel. So far, I used my k800i and it did not hanged but my friend N73 hanged frequently (he selling off soon) to buy this k800i.
Now looking forward to buy the P990 but find the price very expensive S$1388, maybe the price will drop to average 1k later then buy.
When you have almost full 1GB, the phone gets slower than when you have an almost full 512GB
It is not true that GB memory card will slow it down. I tried it... and bought GB M2! It works just fine 1
Well i have noticed something about the k800i, i'm not sure if you have also- plz do comment
when i'm put on the key tones or click it, doesn't work until i switch the phone of and switch it back on again.
and then if i leave my phone for a while with out touching it, like leave it in your locker or something the next time you touch it- you'll notice the key tone or click has gone again.
then you have to switch it off and try again.
it is a general problem in all k800i i think.
does any 1 have a solution
Its still the best phone i ever had! i have had a lot of phones
I wasn't sure I wanted the K800i. I know SE is great (as i used to have the K750). went the shop and guess what? K800i in a greaaaat BROWN color (extra $30 than the black one). very fancy, classy, and stylish. I bought it on the spot and it's been 3 days now and i cant keep my hands off of it:
1- charged once 3 days ago and still have quarter the bar (I use it ~ 2 - 3 hours daily
2- I receive a crazy number of messages and this beast still does not say know (wonder how many sms it takes)
3- pictures & flash are really handy and qualitywise it rocks
4- The shocking thing is - all commentaries state that it has 64MB internal memory, but NO, when i checked memory status in the device it was 72MB free memory!!!!!!!!
5- I bought the 512MB external M2 Card (such phone should be treated well (get the best for it)
6- Do not get the 1G M2, it will slow down the phone - 512MB is the right option
who ever wants a phone, this is your best choice - but get the BROWN color - it is different :) enjoy
Hrmm only afew cons i'll tell u now:
1) Do not have light that can be turned on for long.
2) Cant turn off the red-light.. bad..
3) Since we cant turn off the red-light, at night if u wanna take a photo of others or yourself, it will hurt ur eyes.
Now the Pros(Too Many :)) :
1) 3.15mp is truely gd
2) with the autofocus its even better
3) The flash is real gd too at night if u wanna take photo the flash will be hell ya gd. BTW.. 1 thing to those who think that total darkness, the phone cant take photos? Then ur hell wrong! With the red light and flash u can take photos ANYWHERE!! Serious!
4) Sound quality is gd seriously gd! Can adjust the sound volume and the hertz.
5) Although the video taking is in QCIF mode but i tell u its not bad ..
6 onwards) too many gd stuff buy it and you'll know ^.^
SE K800I Rules! ^^
SE Supporter.. :)
This phone is excellent , has an amazing camera which takes even close-ups in macro mode with very good quality, standby is 2 to 3 days, and talktime of around 4-5 hrs, has digital cam type features unfortunately doesnt come with a memory card (m2) which is expensive than mmc/sdmmc cards available.
excellent UI...like most sony ericsson fones. i have been using this fone since a week and its excellent performance wise.
100 times better than nokia N series which have very only 1 day standby n 2 hrs talktime.
got to this site:http://www.newmobile.nl/eur/en/news.php?news_id=caf44e
there they are comparing nokia n93,nokia 73 and s.e k800i
i also was going to buy the nokia n73 but then read this article and decided to go with s.e k800i
Could someone plz comment on the loudspeaker of this phone??? especially when a mp3 is played. I am eagerly awaiting for the reply!!!! :)
Thanks Owen :)
Im still weighing up the pros/cons of switching phones. i love my D600. I think the main thing that is stopping me is the joystick on the k800i....
has anyone had any problems with it yet or with any SE joysticks in the past???
could you guys please tell me how loud the loud speaker is on the phone compared to a w600i??? or w800i???
Hi, after being a sony ericsson purchaser since the days of the T68i i am considering purchasing the Nokia N73. Can any owners of this K800i offer any suggestions why i'd be better off with it instead (apart from the proper flash which at the moment is the only thing i can think of in SE's favour!) Help!
I seel phones for 2 years. When I recieve this phone in my store..I can say:
But..the firmware is too new..it restarted it self; and is kinf of slow. The joystick I'm not sure is safe.
Had the Samsung D900 for a week after being an SE K750i user for the last year. Hated it. Changed to the SE K800i as fast as I could. So much better that the Samsung D900, and more exciting that the Nokia N73. The Camera is amazing, especially with the proper flash. Plays all the music formats I've tried so far, MP3, WMA, M4P. Support Themes again. Little tweeks to the K750i software, all for the better. Great screen too. Battery life = great. Initial charge was two days ago, been playing non-stop on the Games, bluetooth, music, camers...etc. and it's still going, on 0% now though, so should go soon. All from the first charge!
I can honestly say I've had no problem yet with the camera shutter opening in my pocket. Yes, it is flimsy compared to the K750i shutter, but isn't always popping open. And yes, the M2 card are expensive, cheapest place is ebay, about £25 for 512mb, or £48 for 1GB. Well worth it though.
Don't delay, choose the K800i over the Samsung D900 or Nokia N73 today!
lol,K800i is for Europe,k800c for China and so on.
It has a2dp for stereo bluetooth.
