I have owned the piece for 1.5 week now. Quality is good in terms of taking pictures and mp3 playback plus screen display quality is excellent.
The downside is that i find the current firmware a bit buggy. It is fast when booting up but tends to "freeze" for quite some time when you try to access menu or shorcut bar. (Am aware that time is needed to load contacts from SIM so did not add it as a downside for this matter) The phone did sometime "freeze" also but will resume usage after a few seconds.
Last comment is that i actually had to remove the battery when it hangs after ending a normal voice call. (But that only happened once this morning after 1.5 week of usage)
Overall i am still quite happy with the set and the above problems shoudl be resolvable when the next SW update comes. Hope SE staffs is reading through this column too! ^^
Peace & Regards
hey k800 looks 2 gud 2 me. but when wud sony increase the quality of the video recording, coz N93 has 30 fps rec. n if sony adds symbian to their phones it wud b the iceing on the cake. plzzz wake up sony
I have the SMS PC delete/send since my old T610 using floats mobile agent.
Image stabilizer can be used in photographic mode.
One thing that I’d like to note is the slightly-reduced image resolution for shots taken at the three-megapixel mode only. Instead of the default 2048x1536-pixel image size, those taken with the image stabiliser on will be captured at 2000x1500 pixels only.
Almost all candy bar phones have double key press for phone lock, I see single slide key to lock phone in some swivel and sliders phones.
K800 dont have picsel viewer.
SE and Nokia camera always are compared because they have the best camera phones in the market, no other phone maker can be compared in this field since 2MP phones were out, but the latest models of samsung comes with better camera (like Z710 and P850) if compared with older models of samsung.
I bought the SE K800i in Malaysia 2 days ago for RM1980 and a 512 Mb memory stick micro for RM199. The ear-phones like almost all other ear-phones, except those bundled with the Ipod, have the habit of slipping off the ears and this is irritating. I wanted a phone with a good camera and a good mp3 player and I have found it in the K800i!
I am choosing beteen the Sam P850, Sam Z710 and k800.
Can someone tell me:
1) Is it true that the image stabilizer is actually only in video mode?
2) Does the SE software now support SMS PC editing (deleting SMS messages from PC)?
3) Is there a single button phone lock (to avoid accidently calling Outer Northern Mongolia)?
4) Can you dissable the internet shortcut button that takes 7 selections to get out of?
5) Confirm that is has no document viewer?
6) Is the locking still attached to the profile so if bluetooth drops out you change profile, unlock the phone and call Outer Northern Mongolia?
7) Does it support storing multiple cell phone numbers or have the ability to know what country I am calling to and from so I can use alternate numbers to take advantage of network disscounts?
The SMS PC capability is a must. Sorting through hundreds of old messages on your phone is a joke + using a 12 button keyboard when your phone is much of the time sitting next to a full keyboard is a joke!!!!
Why was this phone only reviewed against the Nokia?
have K800 64+64 mb memory?
(64 mb internal and 64 mb external)
and how cost a 512MB M2 memory?
SE always better then Nokia in terms of Ringtones sound quality and response time when trying to use message.
pefrect mobile for the perfect people like me,, me and my twin bro and friend of mine bought it togather we havent find any problems yet expect the battery.
My battery is lasting fine *touch wood*. I get a good 3 days out of it. Im waiting for pay day on Tuesday to order my 1gb m2 card. So far the cheapest I have found is £37 (ish) from mobymemory.com. Are there any other places that you guys know of ?
anyone having problems with battery? mine barely lasts a day!!!! going to try getting another to see if its just the one i have now .......
this is an excellent camera phone. having that xenon flash is a real advantage. but if you are looking for the best 3.2mp camera phone, sharp 903 still owns the throne. it has 2x optical zoom and gets clearer and lesser noise pictures. but this k800 has its own advantage using the xenon flash which makes it more like a digicam.
is the front cam only for making video calls? what about taking pictures?
I owned my k800i for 2 weeks now and i honestly can't say anything bad about it. Stuff that you hear about build quality only happen to unlucky models. best of all, its so easy to update the firmware of SE phones unlike nokia.
The n73 will have a great camera, but it won't surpass the k800 because of bestpic and xenon flash alone. carl zeiss doesn't do anything compared to actual functions. And seriously, having a real flash is MUCH better than have a flashlight. Id rather take better pictures at night than using the phone to look for things in the dark.
The only real advantages of the n73 is that it uses the more common miniSD card (but M2 may actually last longer than the duo), has a bigger screen (but what for if there's no wifi?), and has a better video recorder (biggest advantage). The OS is only an advantage for people who actually fully utilize it. I didn't make good use of my n-gage's os so i switched to sony ericsson. Its such a relief too since it runs so much faster than a smartphone.
Sorry to mentioned that I buy and used only Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones...
I changed phone very often, so far Se and Nokia phone are the most user friendly and best performance phone.
I tried a few motorola & Benq Siemens phones, not user friendly and camera quality far more inferior than Nokia & SE.
So buying Se or Nokia phones is still the wise choice, at least good resale mkt values..
I have both K750 and K800. My K750 only can store average of 150sms (both inbox and send out message) but now my k800 already have about 300 more sms and still never shown sms full. Anyone here, can advise how many sms can K800 store?
By the way, N73 may be out but for sure symbian phones worked or response much slower due to the softwares. I also think that so far K800 is the only phone built with a photographic flash (similar to digital camera) & I doubt N73 has the same flash. So far, I send out sms and mms with my k800, super fast. Lastly, N73 are a more powerful phone in terms of softwares and also the VGA superior video quality but the design not so appealing and also the size (n70 design better).
Thanking in advance for reading and advise on how many sms can K800 store...
oh dus n e one no if this phone has mp3 or enough storage to keep many songs?
hey im thinking about buying the k800 but i wanted to know if anyone whos got the phone think its too heavy or too big??
N73 will be the main competitor of K800. N73 is a smartphone, it means that you can intall 3rd party programs because it has symbian S60 OS, Bigger screen than K800 (2,4 vs 2 inches), stereo speakers, quad band and EDGE.
N73 use carl zeiss optics but these optics are no warranty of better performance in pics quality (see N90 vs K750, the last one is the best 2mp camera phone and beat N90).
Now the K800 advantages: S60 is a nest of bugs. Like other nokias smartphones, the battery life will be mediocre, and now with fastest processor in comparisson with the slow N80, the phone will work half a day, EDGE is useless in countries where UMTS is used, if your operator has EDGE and no UMTS go with K790.
Cyber-shot tech like best pic, and xenon flash. I hate in my W800 the night shot because the noise in the photos, i see few pics in dark enviroments with K800 and really impress with the flash, finally a real camera in a phone!!
Screen, nokia has bigger screen but SE screen has better colour rendition than nokias one. its small but is better.
