You can't use a xenon flash as a torch because it emits light of great intensity.
On the other hand, you can use a LED flash as a torch because LEDs can be turned on for an extended period of time.
PS. I have this phone and it's awesome. I've got no problems with the joystick at all, too.
I have been using the New K810i
Its really amazing features and menues are great
Before i had used all Nokia even N95 but i think Sony is best for its battery and New generation features which satisfy the new age needs.
There's a nightmode on video but no option for the flash to be used. Which makes sense it's a camera flash not an LED like other mobiles.
Phone is a dream incased in plastic! Joystick is of very high quality, very pleasing and trouble free phone.
The joystick: How is it? Is it worse than K800i? Has any owner of K810i had any problem with the joystick? I don't wanna pay double the money on K850i just because it has a little better camera..so I wanna buy a K810i instead but I'm afraid that the joystick will let me down later even if I take a good care of my phones..
Sorry 4 my english..I'm a foreign!
Had SE's with joysticks before and never had problems, the first being a T300 in 2002.
They've been making them for years, they know how to make them.
Different mfrs have different specialities - no one makes a slider like Samsung. No one makes a better all rounder multi device than Nokia and so on.
dude, joystic is easily broken.i guaranteed u dat.maybe a month uv seen a problem on ur joystick.go to a repair shop and ask dem how many joystick dey repair or change.
QUOTE i know dat d camera of dis fon is gud lyk d k800i but sounds is not good.is lyk d sounds of nokia 6600.ders no equalizer.and d joystick is easily broken. END QUOTE
To the person who said the above. It's tosh complete rubbish. The stick is not easily broken the sound is pretty good, BETTER THAN the Samsung D900 which was my previous handset. I ditched the D900 cos I couldn't hear it ringing.
There is an equaliser in the mp3 player ON k810I with Bass and usual settings, it's not as good as a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone and rightly so this is a Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot.
One is aimed for photography and the other at music...
you do the maths and work out which is which.

The flash on this phone is a proper one, Xenon, not an ordinary LED.
I bought the K810i and the K550i yesterday and I am pleased with both.
K550i offers value for money, for £80 GBP, it's a bargain and a solid build - oozes quality.
The K810i is feature, feature rich pics are awesome. Comparing the 2 cybershots, you can see why the K810i costs £170 GBP. Very well made and 3d java games are the best I've seen. The phone operates with no lag time and can run multiple apps at once.
I'm a bit miffed at just getting a 128mb card in the box. My walkman phone came with 1GB SE don't be so tight with the memory cards!
But why oh why do they put in the joystick? It's a magnet for fluff and stuff to collect in your pocket. That's the only thing I don't like. SE phones come with TWO YEAR warranties so I'm not bothered in the least really.
does any1 know how to get the flash on when taking a video or how to get the flash to work just as a torch.don't have a clue and can't find in manual
its a good phone specially for camera lovers it is having the best camera but.......again the joystick creates problem in future.but cant say anything right now
Whoohh. Got rid of n95, photos are crap. Eventhough its 5meg, pictures are not crisp and not lively as k810 which I found a great replacement while I wait for k850. Plus the battery of n95 is crap. I was able to buy a PSP and an iPod too by adding some bucks. To all buyers, dont be amazed by megapixel count, when you want crisp photos, do not look behind SE.
This phone can take up to 4gb of memory (Memory Stick Micro). This phone does come with disc2phone software, you could have looked that up on the official site of Sony Ericsson... And please, if you want to know which specifications this phone has, then you can look that up at the section (you won't believe it) SPECIFICATIONS...
