Allan, 10 Jun 2008@sniper. Cell phones first and foremost are for making calls. With a tri band phone you are li... moreExactly! That it is.
At least you know something.
But you were not seeing the whole picture, which makes you a "smarty-wanna-be"
The term Low-end phones are coined down to areas where having extra features are not in demand, or in depressed areas where money isn't that easy. To fit to that qualification, they have to limit down some parts that can be sacrificed like extra frequency.
Do not tell it in front of my face that its hard to understand coz you will end up being stupid.
You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you were found, wanting...
Jan, 10 Jun 2008Yes Pepsi, but what by MENU I meant the interface where we can select either if we want to go ... moreYes... But if you change the BINDINGS on what KEYS are SELECTED when you PRESS a certain BUTTON you can make it TAKE you to your messages.
Also Sony Ericsson's have a very similar interface so I really am not following this properly i can't see the big deal.
But Nokias do have more buttons which you can change what they bring up it's super handy
Pepsi, 10 Jun 2008You can change what buttons bring up what menu ya knowYes Pepsi, but what by MENU I meant the interface where we can select either if we want to go to settings, messaging, entertainment and whatnot. My point is, there are occasions when we need to go to the sent items, drafts, etc. And once again, TOP PRIORITY for cellphones is for COMMUNICATION purposes. All accesses should lead first to the COMMUNICATION uses in phones, not the GALLERY.
There is a reason why companies hire A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE to do the modeling, making, budgeting, testing, programming and most especially the MATH.
sony dont tel me i cant do maths, you're making yourself look stupid.
i cant believe i have to simplify this for you.
imagine we have a 10x10 square.
if i double one of the dimensions, i get a 20x10 square.
in a 20x10 square, i can fit 2 10x10 squares.
if i double the other dimension, i get a 20x20 square, which can fit 4 10x10 squares.
double qvga would be 640 x 320
the fact we are doubling both dimensions means we are multiplying it all by four.
im only a kid, you clearly need to go back to school.
even thickos like dani can work out thats 4x more
In case no one noticed, Nokia phones look cheap and unattractive as for Sony Ericsson phones, they make people go WOW! (in general)
And also, someone mentioned about Nokia releasing phones like there's no tomorrow, it's definitely true.
I owned Sony Ericsson phones ever since so what I can tell you is that I'm in love with them. I never regretted buying any of those phones and I'm currently still satisfied with my phone at this very moment.
I have tried using Nokia phones btw (USE not OWN). Unlike Sony Ericsson phones, when you open the MENU, the cursor (or whatever you call it) is on the GALLERY button by default. Why is this? I know there are shortcuts but seriously. The reason why PHONES were invented is for COMMUNICATION purposes. Also, it has a lot redundancy and useless folders. There are a lot more I would like to say BUT this place is supposed to be a Sony Ericsson K850 review so all you Nokia fans, stick to what is needed in here. You can compare but I've read a lot of useless infos here. Most of you sound like your endorsing Nokia phones, that is not the point why this place exists.
Even though the N95 and N95 8G may be an epic fail, the fact is Nokia made so much money through both of them. Everyone here can argue what is better N95 or k850, but the fact is N95 has a bigger fan base. For example if you go bash one of those phones over there I swear you get flamed 10 times worse than you do here.
Fact is most people I have seen with phones have an N95 (Might I add most of them are old and the few I have seen with a k850 have been pretty young, which isn't really the point but whatever) Point is N95 has a big fan base which makes it impossible for anyone to prove the k850 is better.
I don't like either phone so this is not a biased oppinion
P.P.S Sharyn please spell properly your wall of text takes too long for me to understand
@sniper. Cell phones first and foremost are for making calls. With a tri band phone you are limited as to where you can make calls around the world because you are missing a band. It's not hard to understand sniper, well for you i guess it is!
Allan, 10 Jun 2008@dani. Whats this nonsense you are saying that it's so hard for nokia to make a quadband phone... moreYou don't know why there are Triband Phones?
That would also mean that you don't know why there are low-end and mid-end phones.
That is the kind of thinking that you and nick have in mind.
you just think that phones should all be technically great all the time.
I would brand you the "Hitler of Low and Mid end Phones"
@dani. Whats this nonsense you are saying that it's so hard for nokia to make a quadband phone.
Thats ridiculous. Yes nokia has tri band phones, but so does SE.
To be honest i don't know why any company makes tri band phones. They can't be used all over the world like quadband phones!
nick, 09 Jun 2008sony you cannot do basic maths.
each dimension is twice as big
jesus christ, go... moreDude I think you are the one that can't o basic maths.
You are counting the resolution height and width seperate. If the Nokia video was 4 x better then the resolution would be 1280 x 960 and not 640 x 480.
Also, you wont be able to take a video clip at night due to the N95 not having a video light.
you dont get it do ya?
This is how it goes
Its so Hard for Nokia to make a Quadband Phone isnt it?? Yes...
Its Hard for Sony Ericsson to make a Phone with Good Features? No..
No Phone is Perfect, you make it out as if N95 is Totally Perfect, well it aint.
it has more drawbacks then this country
Cons: no spring to facilitate opening top half plays when the phone is open friction between plastic surfaces causes creaky sounds that accompany each opening
Poor battery life
Charging through USB is not possible
No FM RDS
Voice assisted GPS navigation is charged
GPS chip doesnt work with third party applications
Cannot edit office documents
Cons: numeric keys could have been made bigger uneven backlighting under the music player controls lower display resolution small font size in the clock on stand-by no information LED
and the list goes on, what you need to do is check GSMarena's N95 review, full of cons and drawbacks list within the review.
then Nokia released the N95 8GB
wanna know why?
to improve on the drawbacks of N95-1
then they released N82 wanna know why?
to improve again over N95 8GB with only Xenon Flash.....
man seriously with a list that big ^^^ you shouldnt have anything to say in this forum now...
its irrelevant really. they released 5 phones there as eddie pointed out, every single one is better than the current best sony erricson
Thanx guys. Sadly, I was a victum of there market once. Never again. Thanx again, eddie
eddie, 09 Jun 2008At least SE cares. They put a phone out that can be enjoyed everywhere one time. On the othe... moreWow. A very few people know about Nokia's market strategy.
I can't believe you've just explained their stuff.
At least SE cares. They put a phone out that can be enjoyed everywhere one time. On the other hand, nokia released its first N95 Euro. Then they decide to add a 8 gig version. Then they decide to add a US. version. They they add a 8 gig to the US. O, and then they want to catch up to SE and add N82 Euro. Then a US version. You see the pattern. And they don't let you know they are releasing these other versions so you can go out and buy ther latest and greatest and then O know they released the one that works for me. Nokia is money hungry and wants you to buy 2 and 3 of there phones until you get the right one. SE has never done this. 1 phone 1 time good for US, China, Europe etc. Thanx, eddie
You guys spend so much time aguing P's and Q's. Just enjoy you're K850i. We as owners know it's a much more enjoyable phone. Me personally because I owned the N95 and sold it, it's boring and slow. And the GPS sucks. Camera ok but the K850i is far superior and much more fun. I love my K850i and it's been the best phone I've had since my SE W800 for all around use. I have had very cool phones in between but SE's are just fun. Ps. Nokias are good phones, just boring. Thanx, eddie
