Having owned both of these phones I can honestly say each phne has its good points and each has its bad points.
I owned the K850 for about 3 months before I traded it in on an N95. The main things I did not like about the K850 were the annoying buttons: small and sharp, and the touch screen lag. I often found myself pressing the touch screen more than once because it did not seem to register my touch but then because of the lag it went off through several menus.
Also I found the xenon flash way too powerful or that it would go off after the shutter. All my night shots had a huge white flash in the top right corner, or were just completely black.
On the flip side, now that I am using the N95 8gb, there are still some issues with that phone too. Although where the K850 annoyed me, the N95 does not: ie buttons and camera.
Where it does fall down for me in comoparison is the operating system. I'm not a huge fan of Symbian, where you have to actually close down your applications manually most times. Also it has no light, or Track ID function, and the Nokia media player is much worse and less user friendly than the SE one.
So as you can see, no phone is perfect, and no phone will appease every person. You just have to get the phone that is right for you. So to Nick and anyone else who thinks whinging every two seconds will make them feel better about the phone they have, get a life and each to their own.
Adding onto that K850i is More Stable then N95, has a better Camera and Media Player and Better Battery Life, Better Design, better size, better sound Quality, better Camera Quality, better Camera Cover, better Internet surfing
nick !!!! get some research into your head....iv already been through every damnn Nokia of every range. and samsung etc etc.
The QVGA Recording is Smooth and Quality, better quality then N95's K850i's camera kicks N95's A**
i find SE's better Phones, i dont care if N95 has better features. half the things i dont even need. and N95 doesnt even have the power to run them all! so whats the point?
Wi-Fi/Gaming iv got a PSP!!!! with the HUGE Display which is better then N95's!
and as i said iv owned every single Nokia out of all the ranges...i went from a 6300 to a N95 they both felt the same!!!!
.....weres the fun in that?
going from a W850i to a K850i, man its totally different Vibe and feel in them, its called 'Unique' ....SE just Rocks.
blah blah blah.
N95 and N82 are like Bricks compared to the Sexy Shiny K850i
K850i has a better 5MP and Smooth and Quality Recording and Xenon Flash and 3 LED Video lights for Video recording:P and Excellent Media Player and Quality All-Round.
My Nokia hit the floor, N95 got Low Low Low Low Low Low Low Low Low Low
I totally agree with this.....
DEFINITELY go for K850. This is not a biased opinion, just according to the specifications you are asking for, K850i is ideal. The cam is better than the N95's (Nokia fans might not agree it all comes down to preference K850 pics are more natural while N95 pics are too over-processed). Media player on K850i is 100x better than N95 (even Nokia fan boys have to agree there if not then they are retarded even GSMArena says so). The radio is the same on both only the K850 interface is easier on the eyes (i dunno if N95 has RDS but K850 definitely has it). Battery life goes to K850 for sure so that rounds up all your preferences (K850 3 - N95 0) oh and the K850 is about 1/2 the priceof N95 8GB so you can get one and an 8GB card and still have enough money left for lunch:P.
Oh and K850 needs a headset in for radio because it uses the cable as an antenna i think all phones do that but you can still use the external speaker with the cable in if you want others to listen as well.
Enjoy the K850 when you get it, i sure did! :D
i can see why u might prefer your htc over the n95 because it runs on windows mobile which some people praise. in fact the next phone i buy will be a windows mobile one because ive never tried it before.
but my argument was purely over the camera, and after reviewing both shots by the k850 and my n95, i really do think the quality is superior on the k850.
the k850 blurs so easily, the pictures are unnaturally dull (all good digi cameras tweak them to make them brighter) and the video is a joke on the k850.
@ nick or (nxwT) I owned the N95. You are right the phone takes very good pics. But the phone is very bulky, I currently use the att tilt which is also bulky and does not take pics as well as the N95. But as a smart phone the tilt beats the N95 hands down. I believe both nokia and sony ericsson make great phones because I have used both. I am contimplating buying the K850i because it's size and I dont need all the extras that tilt or N95 has to offer. You obviously are making a biast opinion because if you ever used both a nokia and a sony ericsson you would agree with me that both make great phones and are quality built. It comes down to prefrence. Not trying to bash just don't make biast opinions.
@khalil, this is Eddie. I have a question. I hear when loading this phone with pics and music it tends to get very slow espescially with the 4 gig card, is this true?
its better than n95 cuz
1.5megapixel camera with xenon flash,cybershot,3 led light and no blurs.
4.up to4gb memory
hi,can anyone help me,i have had my k850 for about 8 months now and all of a sudden the touch sensitive buttoms a re no more working,can't do anything else but just call friends,can't even read my sms,i have tried removing the baterry and sim card and then rebooting and as well as going to sony ericsson website for software up grade,no luck so far,can anyone help
K850i is just the BEST phone right now..............
dont believe the Retarted Nokia fanboys
SE is way Forward
K850i is way Forward!
SE 4 Lyf.
The K850 has following salient features,
5 megapixel camera, 16x digital zoom, natural color rendering, and built in xenon flash plus three additional LED flashes for video recording an AF illuminator. In camera mode the keypad is differently lit so the user can easily find the camera shortcut buttons (view mode, thumbnail view, selftimer, flash).
In common with the K810, a program called Photo Fix and Face Warp is bundled with the K850. Users can easily increase the brightness and the contrast of the photo.
Video recording is QVGA (320×240) @ 30 frames per second. (K800 QCIF (176x144) @ 15 fps.) Supports Image and Video Stabilizer so videos and photos taken would be less likely to appear blurred and shaky
List of K850 Firmwares are as follows,
* R1CA029 - First Release
* R1CA037 (SEUS - 03Dec07)
* R1DA038 (SEUS - 21Dec07)
* R1DA039 (SEUS - 21Dec07)
* R1EA031 (SEUS - 21Feb08)
Just have a general question for anyone who may be able to provide some advice. I was about to buy a new Micro M2 8GB Memory Stick for my newly purchased K850i. I figured this way I would have all the music I wanted along with all the storage space I would ever need on a phone. HOWEVER, a good friend of mind mentioned that he had a 4GB version in his phone and he found that it slowed down pretty much all functions of his phone (a bit like having an outdated PC). He said most applications would take forever to load, even just going through the menu. He said these problems stopped occurring the moment he put his 2GB card back into the phone. Can anyone confirm or deny this theory??? Thanks.
I have had the K850i since December 07, love the phone but had to send it away a few times for minor faults, i work in the mobile industry, i had the choice between the N95 8GB and the K850i, through these faults, I would still choose the K850i hands down!
Too thick without wlan and plastic back fingerprint magnet.Could not compete N95 in sales design and performance recently two updates span of one week has not resolved restarts.Resale is always a problem with SE sets first prices too high they drop within months and halve ur orignal price.Most maybe all SE sets Made n China even highend W960 P1 K850 explains,stil Nokia highend fones Made n Finland. Why cant Se reduce the start price or quality,it destroys even with software updates its image.
No problemo! Remember N95 only won the contest because of video recording. When you hold the K850 you really feel like you're holding a digital camera. The cam user interface is amazing and the dedicated camera buttons with special blue lighting are something else. Dont forget the Xenon Flash!
No problemo bro! Ive used all sorts of phones and all ranges od SE so im somewhat of an expert (with all modesty :P) so anything u need i will be popping in and out of this forum.
Thank you Khalil! It's nice to read a based opinion vs a preference... I was just flipping through the picture shot out on here and even though Nokia won their bet, SE won mine so I wanted some user review. Thanks!
