The U500 will be commercially available in the first half of 2009.
About new U500 mobile platform
The U500 mobile platform is a highly integrated solution with three ARM11 CPUs providing world class multimedia performance including a 12 Mpix camera, camcorder (MPEG4, H.264 D1@30fps), TV-out, MIPI camera and Display I/F, HW Video Encoding and Decoding D1(H.263, H.264, MPEG4 (AS), VC1, DivX,), and Mobile TV (MBMS phase 2, DVB-H, Unicast). Connectivity solutions include WLAN 802.11, wireless USB(UWB) and high speed USB. The U500 supports quad-band WCDMA radio, 7.2/5.76Mbps HSPA broadband capabilities, a world class security solution as well as highly optimized power consumption.
The U500 is the first mobile platform to support 4x full-scene anti-aliasing (FSAA) with no performance penalty, boosting the quality of all graphics rendered to the screen. ARM Mali software will be provided as an integral part of the U500 platform software. The close link between graphics processor and middleware (the Mali Graphics Stack) reduces the time-to-market and integration risks for handset manufacturers. As well as the Khronos standards, the Mali software supports the Java JSR standards for 3D and vector graphics maximizing the options for third-party software developers and backwards-compatibility with existing Ericsson platforms.
Never Judge SE badly
they always come up with something that Batters the competition
e.g remember W810i the best phone of its time!
yeah but its not like they have any features to proccess.
maybe in a few years they might make a decent cameraphone, who knows :O
just wait and see ..Nokia will become processing History!!! when SE come along and process a Fast Processor!!
Hmmm..im not dissing the W810i or anything but in my opinion since i have a W850 i would say its better but overall W810i wins i still love the W810i if i had the choice i would get one!!! its still one of my all time Dream Phones along with W800i/W960i and K850i
that will never happen. Nokias moving onto 1ghz processors while the sony erricsons P series phones are still stuck on 208mhz
To Lonestar & Dani

Ericsson announces new multi-processor mobile platform powerhouse
Posted by Will on Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 at 2:52 pm under Technologies, Sony Ericsson, Announcements
It's all about all-in-one powerhouse mobile platforms these days. Multiple processors, high-megapixel camera support, high-speed data support, mobile TV, 3D gaming - the trick is getting all that power integrated into a single platform.
Ericsson has just gone live with their very own powerhouse mobile platform, the Ericsson U500 (not pictured). With a next-generation architecture that leverages triple-processors and a multimedia subsystem (think TV, gaming, video, music, the works), the Ericsson U500 "is a powerful multimedia platform with performance, graphics and usability, more resembling a mobile computer than today's mobile phones. With the U500 platform Ericsson will keep its world leading position within the multimedia mass market for years to come," according to Robert Puskaric, head of Ericsson's mobile platforms business.
Three ARM11 CPUs, hardware accelerators, integrated digital baseband and multimedia chip (on a single processor die), and increased efficiency combine to deliver a mobile platform that can handle a 12 megapixel camera, high-quality video recording, WVGA display, 3D gaming, 3D UI, high-resolution video, and CD-quality audio performance - all in a single package.
Talk about a mouthful. The point in bringing all these components together in a single die is that it will result in lower prices and greater efficiency - two things we're big on over here. It looks like the near future will be filled with mobile devices that last longer while doing more.
We're looking for Ericsson to launch their U500 mobile platform in the 1H 2008.
Full press release.
good idea....rather than buy a digital CAM / walkman..and hmmmm...its so cute and sexy fone re
