It can open PDF-files from what i have tested on sony ericssons webpage, you know the JAVA-application "test phone" If you go to the office part in the menu there you can see a PDF-viewer.

Genetix, thanks for sharing the specs of the P3i. Looks great, 3x optical zoom too, cool!

RNVerma, I am surprised you think SE and Nokia are behind in manufacturing of phones, and that too "far behind". The sales/market capture on planet Earth seems to suggest otherwise. Which planet are you living on? :-). I do agree Samsung are doing pretty well these days, their G800 is a great phone, but I would still disagree they're ahead of SE and Nokia.

Anyway, to answer your question - Yes, P1i can read PDF files. But again I disagree with yr statement "if the answer is no then it is not a worth phone for many", coz even though it's a good feature to have, I wouldn't think that'll be a deciding factor for most people considering buying this phone. And one more thing - Even if a PDF reader was not preinstalled, you could always install applications later if it was such crucial to you.

@ RNVerma

The P1i has a document viewer & editor built in. It can view PDF files, as well as view & edit word & excel documents & powerpoint slides.

it seems to be a good phone at a very high price but i only want to know if one can view pdf files on it? if the answer is no then it is not a worth phone for many. i have seen and checked all the models of SE phones and found none as document viewer. i think SE and nokia are far behind in manufacturing of phone as compared to motorola or samsung or they both are fooling the masses all the time.

I really like sony ericson because it fits my needs minus overspending. Nokia on the other hand is better but is kinda expensive (if not sooo expensive) and you get what? a few extras you can't find on SE. Hmmm...think i can download those extras! I'm quite disappointed with P1 because it lacks EDGE and HSPA support, but i guess UMTS is just fine. Anyways EDGE is just a support for operators without 3G lincense, and too bad theres no HSDPA, sigh!

But you'll have quick office, organizer, and a 3.5 pixel camera. I don't have this phone yet but I'll grab one this christmas.

Buenas tardes.

Is there no local store in Brazil dealing SE P1i? You can buy this unit thru www.ebay.com.

Before buying the unit, make sure that the specified communication bandwidth of P1i is working in your local network.

Anthony, from the Philippines.

I have now become a Sony Ericsson die hard. Starting with the T68i to the P910i and now the W810. I think the P1 has everything I want, MP3 player, FM radio, slimline look and all the attributes I liked about sony ericsson and inparticular the P910.
One of the reasons I didn't go with a P990 was the network frequencies, my service provider uses 850/1800/1900. Will there be a model with the quad band frequency like the P910i and W810i?
