With the price of P990i right now, I don't think of ever regretting buying this phone. With the advent of P1 coming this June/July, the price would definitely not be as competitive as with the P1, expecting the price to be 35k pesos up. Should they be introducing the P1 around 22k-25k pesos, I guess, I may be thinking twice of buying P990i. Nonetheless, this phone is great!
i hope i'll not regret buying this p990i coz theres a new one coming, the p1...r u thinking of that too?
k thanks, ssaloon...im frm philippines...anyone knows how much is the brand new p990i?
Hey peeps,.. i'm from the philippines too, and i was wondering if the current firmware is still unstable today. Because i got so scared after reading so many bad reviews about this phone, frequently and randomly crashing, rebooting. And, considering my phone's OS right now is also symbian and i have to say, i have had enough of the random shut downs. I hate it when that happens. (Really pisses me off) So now that I am gonna buy a new phone, i really want to, as much as possible, refrain from buying these self-rebooting phones...I know there are a lot of comments regarding this already but please give me some advice because i am sooo attracted to its features *____*
P.S. I am getting a new phone by friday ;)
could we install msn messenger in this cool phone, if yes how should i ? and could i view the microsoft files which is on my web mail.

Plz stop complaining about this great piece of innovation. This set is a beauty.I will rate it better then the latest N series of phone. It has everything one needs in today's fast paced world.I have been using se k800 cybershot,w810,k750,nokia n73 etc but p990 is the best.i will rate its camera almost as good as the cybershot phone if not better.videos too are good enough.Bty is good .Screen is wonderful. All u need is to upgrade this set.For me its my swiss army knife.Great job done sonyericsson.Take care all of u and enjoy ur sets.bye
what bout the display clarity and camera clarity? does the battery drain out very quickly?
can u suggest what s/w could i use to record incoming and outgoing calls as well as use it as a voice recorder?
my main concern is two things,
call recording using a third party software and voice recording... both should be of one hour, like u said theres not much s/w for the SE P990i. I do alot of telephonic interviews and do alot of interview and reord them on my h/s, that y im looking for a h/s that would have the 2 main features call recording and voice recording.
To Abishai Fernandez: well it can record sound but unfortunately not phone calls. Camera is good. Battery is average. First I was also thinking of N73 but didn't buy it coz it does not feature USB charging and no touchscreen. Offcourse P990 can install 3rd party sw but it has very few sw on the net as compared to N73. One more thing P990 has qwerty keyboard but N73 hasn't. If u update ur P990 then it'll work just fine. Last of all N73 is a good phone U won't regret bying any of the two.
Read the posts you will get all the answers.
P990 is great multimedia PDA device.
I am planning to buy the Sony Ericsson P990i or the Nokia N73. what I would like to know if Sony Ericsson P990i has the following features:
1. Can i record an incoming or outgoing call for a minimum of 1 hour?
2. Can i use it as a digital voice recorder and can it record for a minimum of 1 hour?
3. Hows the battery life?
4. Can i install third party softwares on it?
5. Hows the clarity of the display and camera clarity?
Please let me know ASAP. I'd be grateful if any one can help with this query.
Thanks and Regards,

I guess SE have a new designer with their line-up of UIQ phones starting from M600 and W950, done it with P990, and now removed the flip cover in the P1. Probably, marketing strategy.
SEP990i records video in 3gp format with a maximum dimension of 320x240. Should you want to convert this to mpeg4, I highly recommend using Allok Video to MP4 Converter. With this tool, you can adjust the video quality, resolution and audio quality to suit your needs. Try to download it at www.katz.ws...
