The s500i is out in northern ireland, I have it already. I luv it athlo ive heard that the keypad cracks easy - if ur careful it shouldnt!!!
when is it available in ireland and there is no big issue if screen cracks just INSURE IT!!!!!
hey i wanted advice. plz plz dear user of this phone, advise me whether i should buy this fone or not. i really am in need of the information. i wanna buy this cool stuff.
Don't kid yourself....The new batches have some of the same problems!!! I purchased the latest batch, ice purple, and it was defective right out of the box:
The 3,6,9,# keys were VERY dim as compared to the other keys which were well lit and the slider seemed loose. A very noticeable, obvious, defect and according to my dealer SE admitted to the defect but still plans to sell the phones with the defect as they did with the cracked key problem.
Can you believe it? Mt advice...stay away from this company. Someone posted the customer satisfaction numbers earlier and SE ranks last and there's a reason for this....duh!!
For those that keep asking if you should buy this phone.....You are fools to take so many complaints with a grain of salt!!! If you have to ask whether or not you should buy, after you have read the complaints, then you should go ahead and buy this phone, as you will deserve what you will get... so don't bitch if it happens.
at first I wanted to buy this phone but now, when I see all those comments you have left, I'm not so sure anymore. i don't think that look shoud be so important(and this one looks good), especialy if the phone is defected!!!!!! advice..?
i really want to buy this fone. but the comments have shocked me. i love the green one. but i see that its keypad gets cracked so quickly. so what can i do? plz inform me.
Have this phone for a week already. I want to tackle 2 issues, which become the main concern of this phone.
1. Sim Card
It is not difficult at all to insert/eject the sim card. The slot comes with spring mechanism. To eject, simply push the sim card in. It will release and pop the simcard up.
I must admit that the keypad is small and looks fragile. I have small fingers so no problem. I have been using the phone according to my normal behaviour/pattern. No crack so far.
Overall, this is a great everyday phone. Value for money: Stylish and versatile (dont need radio and 3G), light in pocket, AUD$199(prepaid with Virgin with $5 call credit).
If you experience keypad cracks, keep using for sometimes...I am sure 3rd party/after market keypad will be available in different material and wont be expensive...
for the price..cant really complain..
I don't own this phone, someone I know did. We though it would be fine at first because our friend works at the store and said there hadn't been any returns so far, but after about 2 months, the keys cracked.Personally I still love this phone, it's beautiful, and so's the display. It's camera and display completely beat the nokia 6300 despite the nokia being a 16mil display.
Personally, I don't think the paint is the problem, as some posts have said. Since there was no official report, and someone said week29+ phones are fine, but they're not. The keys only have support on the center of each key. Since the keys are thin, if the keys aren't always pressed exactly in the middle, then they may crack.
You cant exactly call people stupid for giving a negative feedback. Some people got the unlucky batch which is the keypad prob... if u got no problem with the keypad or whatsoever... you are one lucky SOB... no offense... its like a compliment of saying u are very lucky....
This phone looks impressive n dats whr it strts n ends....apart 4rm da usual SE sound quality thrz nothin dat one can expect...of course i wld stil luv 2 hav dis phone...but it has been up4 replacement since d past 1 mnth...da SE service centres r playin a big joke on consumers...dnt seem 2 b intrstd in replacing d phone at al!!!!
I bought the S500 2 weeks ago, and the '0' button has stopped working, it did it after about a week but then started to work again, but not it has complelty stopped working.. has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?
TrackID means ur able to acces ur music through artist/ tracks or ur own playlists.
you can just push the battery against the sim...but it is meant 2 click in.
Four of my buttons are cracked, everybody is having the same problem... i dont really care I dont really want to send it away, i just dont want to lose them.
People ARENT STUPID for posting there experiences if u get a good on well done but if like me u get a bad one your entitled to post truth it isnt great in my opinion dont call people stupid for posting bad experiences theyve had.
lol...people kept telling me that putting the sim card in was hard. its SO EASY. you dont need to push it in all the way. just slide the battery into place after you insert it and the battery will hold it in there =) i think ive had mine for a few months now and still NO KEYPAD problems!! i think maybe its because people use their nails like someone said before?? i send out more than 100 txt per day and mine are still good as new. i feel that the slider is giving out though..still have no idea why bluetooth headset cant be detected...and i have to agree that the vibration is farely weak. i get missed calls alot of the time when i turn off my ringtone.
This cell phone is an absolute beauty from SE. No problem with key pads. I have in green color and its amazing! Camera's result is as clear as crystal and sound is always an specialty of SE.
Highly recommended set!!
the amount of stupid posts on here is ridiculous, this is a good phone... i've not had any issues with it... my keypad has NOT broken my 3,6 and 9 keys are FULLY lit and are not DULL in anyway compared to other keys. please don't listen to these stupid people who post faults saying the phone constantly falls apart... it DOESN'T. as for comparing it to the w850i i find that the s500i has a much better construction and a much better battery cover... (w850i's being made of cheap think plastic that was not the correct fit for the phone... constantly creeks when u text or dial)
does anyone know about the memory capacity instead of the shared memory?
I'd like to know how many MB do we get? Thanks for the info.
not my phone, gfs.
s500 keypad feels fragile... too small for me.
sliding mechanism broke within a month. too much trouble gettin sony to replace it under warranty. have to wait a few months for parts to be available at local repair shop.
if it wasnt for the damn troubles we've faced, id say its a pretty good phone, almost as good as my w850, but i feel that overall the w850 has a stronger, more solid construction. s500 shines in the display, vivid colours and brightness.
IMO: 6.5-7.0/10 overall
