the cracking keypad problem only applies to the mysterious green S500, because of a chemical reaction with the green paint and the keys making it brittle. SE has fixed this already in the newer batches
Okay, the keypad thing will be resolved sooner or later. But the keypad is under warranty or should be. Just send an email to Sony Ericsson and they will approve of this too so who ever you purchased it from should help you fix it.

Just got mine 5 days ago. Sony Ericcsson Month 7 Week 30! Keypad broke after 3 days!!!
Hey. Keypad cracking- this is when the keys split in two. They don't come out but wou'll not like to see it. It doesn't happen as soon as you get the phone. About 3 weeks after. 3 of my keys have split down the middle don't know if they can be replaced at the moment. The sound- sweet, loud, clean, music. Louder than the 810i Proven by myself tuesday night. Plays wma files also. Life
Are there any
Indications that i can get that my keypad is going to crack?
i just got it today..
one problem: opening the back cover to put the sim card or change battery.. the design makes it really hard to open the back
The phone has no keypad problems. The sound is amazing. The battery door is very asy to remove. My question is does this have flash?
what does keypad cracking mean?? lyk literly the keypad is cracking??
it's not the matter how many sms you send everyday. The keypads just simply crack ("automatically") because most of my cracked keypad didn't happen on the spot when i typed sms messages if you know what i mean.
We are searching for an S500i owner to confirm the following:
1) Has anybody with YELLOW experienced keypad 'cracking'?
2) Has anybody with GREEN and batch after W28 experienced any keypad 'cracking'.
3) Does any owner of the new W580i (improved vs. S500i) experienced keypad cracking?
Please give us an IMEI number in case you have a YES answer in any of the above. THANKING YOU in advance.
rajeev a got this phone for 10500. gr8 phone go ahead and buy it. no keypad problems!
i've seen this phone in both color, they're just fine. my friends have the phones, and they said it works pretty well. i plan to get the yellow one~
i have this phone and what i can say is, if you like the shiny display, different mood lights and the beautiful theme then go for it. but if you like loads of functions or ultra thin then go for Nokia or Samsung. the battery cover is hard to remove at first but if you hold the two sides of the battery cover and gently move it sideways a bit then you can easily push it off.
hey jp! i wanted to ask you that as im not a texter and hardly send 10 messeges a week, will i still be facing the keypad problem(cracks)? please reply!! thnx in advance??
