Adding insult to Sony Ericsson's injurious bottom line, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U shops (the UK's largest mobile phone retailers) have halted sales of the SE's Symbian-powered Satio handset after a high number of customer returns and complaints. A "software glitch" reportedly causes Sony Ericsson's flagship device to power down when users try to access certain applications -- unfortunately, the issue can't be patched via an over-the-air update. A little digging into CPW discussion forums reveals multiple complaints of freezes, crashes, under-performing batteries, and bizarre interface behavior. Both the Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U will offer "new phones" to customers fed up with their Satio. Richard Dorman, senior marketing manager at Sony Ericsson, concedes the issue and assures us that it should be sorted by Christmas. Until then, you can still purchase the handset directly from Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile... but really, why would you? The Satio's not the only dubiously-speced 12 megapixel cameraphone on the market.
Viju, 24 Nov 2009and offcourse its sharper dude...both have 640X360 resolutions...whereas satio has 3.5 inch sc... moreu saying a 3.5" TFT screen is brighter and sharper then a 3.7" AMOLED??
i did a compare between the omnia hd and the n97(its even better than the satio in terms of sharpness and brightness, sun legibility, ...) and i found omnia hd is fAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAar better than the N97.
theres only a benefit though, the n97's sun legibility is much better than the hd.
But indoors, even GSMArene admit that theres nothing available on the market yet can beat hd's display...
pls dont fool urself and others, believe the truth...
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Is the screen more responsive than 5800's?
Chalice, 24 Nov 2009Sucks man.. For me everything is good except when it comes to music quailtyGSMArena said Satio is a gifted musician... how do you say it?
Emteaz, 24 Nov 2009This phone is good but i want a 20 megapixel one......makers,try to make a 20 megapixel one if... moreI hope you are just joking because I just caught myself from saying something rude.
How many 20mp real cameras do you know?
Carphone Warehouse and P4U have removed this handset from sale due to software issues. not at all surprised. a blow for SE, after the W910 and C905 i was hoping they had really sorted there act out. though it seems others are not doing any better. N97 for eg.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970and offcourse its sharper dude...both have 640X360 resolutions...whereas satio has 3.5 inch screen and samsung has 3.7...so obvioualy satio is sharper...a 3 inch phone with same resolution wud be much sharper than satio...
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Lie? I have the Satio since a month and today only i compared their screens...i challenge you to compare both their screen with same wallpapers...you urself wud notice that the Satio screen is just slightly bright...especially in the white color...u shud try it urself and then u wud say the same...
symbian = fail..
put an android...
I just cant believe, iphone 3gs still wins..
maybe Xperia X10 will be better.
My Satio vs Omnia HD vs Nokia 5800 - Display Comparison
Today i compared my Satio with Omnia HD and Nokia 5800 displays....following are the things i noticed:
* Satio's display was slightly brighter than Omnia HD and much more brighter than 5800. I compared my wallpapers and
videos on their screens.
* Satio's display is sharper than Omnia HD which was obvious in video playback.
* Touchscreen sensitivity of Omnia HD was much better than Satio coz its a capacitive screen.
One thing i noticed that while watching videos/pics on Satio...we shud avoid keeping our finger on the light sensor on top of the phone (above where 'Sonyericsson' is written and right next to the front video call camera)...coz it wud decrease the brightness...
Its strange how most people doesn't have software issues about this phone yet some has.. Well that's supposed to be expected anyways during first release. I mean, I've seen really really much worse software ever! The 5800 had a lot of bugs during its launched especially that really annoying time when there's no response when opening an application or something, the n97 which had software AND hardware issues, and the n86 which has quite a lot of bugs, and hangs too!
Dear Satio users,
How is the volume level and bass effect in Satio when heared in Headphones ?
ive had the satio since it was launched and no issues yet. lags a bit when several apps are open but nothing to worrying
check this link too mate its by gsmarena from gsmarena blog !
JK, 24 Nov 2009I think yu're the one talking crap here mate. I've used mine for over a month now and no issue... moreaint me who saying so mate . check the link
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I think yu're the one talking crap here mate. I've used mine for over a month now and no issues. Works fine except for laggy at times. Camera is awesome, music is pleasing and smartphone functions works really well. They could be incidentally a batch of phones which might have had some hw issues which causes the sw glitch but asking everyone to stop buying this is nonsensical.
Keep your opinions to yourself, go try a Pixon 12 if u want and u'll come running back to Satio in a week! At this specs and pricing, u need to have a smartphone which runs on symbian, winmo or android. Not some java crap phone!!!
