I guess you people have alot of question. so here is go.
I'm using MP3 ring tone on my v802 (Software upgrade as z800 software already). and yes i have problem using cable feeding data into computer because i instead a v802 cd into my computer, but you can use infred or bluetooth, and that work fine.
the reason you can't use mp3 ringtone is because either your phone haven't been unlock (vodafone lock up the mp3 system so that you have to down load song from their website, you have to unlock it) I hear from people that the older unlock version can't use mp3 as ringtone, only the new method (instead z800 software) can do it. OR the MP3 formate is not really MP3 formate.
the price of the phone in hk is around 4000. but it is droping so mybe it will get cheaper very soon.

Does anyone know if it is possible to set your own message alert (like P900) on the z800/v800? And what about the amount of messages? Can it compete with the P900/P910?

Good fone..first 3G fone from SE/better pixels/has everything we expected from nowaday mobiles/reasonable price(HKD$4000 or USD$520)compare with what it offers,much cheaper than P900&910..In HK they have 2 models:1/ is Vodafone original fone(locks with Vodafone,has Vodafone's display on main screen)...2/ is called V802 is Simfree&has SE screen(you have to get a V800 and get it unlocked&cost around HKD$300)..the V802 is the go as Vodafone's Red+Grey display is ugly....Rate:8/10

I heard if you upgrade to Z800 software, you'll hav problem when trying to synchronise with PC or transfer data with PC, is that true?

Hi.My v800 phone work very good,except the phone ring is not loud like other phone I've had ,even I try to use the option loudest(outdoor with volumn 8),but the ring just enough in Ok environment.Did anybody know how to make it loud,or any software or upgrade can make it louder? Thanks

did you try to use the BT dongle to transfer mp3s. I guess this would work.

As to Davidh issues,
i just got a v800 yesterday, and it is using z800 sofeware. (then reason i know is because i was using infred and my zomputer the phone i connet is z800)
of course sony will tell you they can't do it, this is because they have to protect them self. but street place should be able to do it.
(by the way i got mine in HK, so i guess we are just little faster in changing phone system)

I love the V800,the MP3 player is of very high quality.I am having a great deal of trouble transfering MP3's from my computer onto the phone.If anyone can help me then that would be great..

the operating system is just a standard sony ericsson one. it works very well ande has lots of neat tricks. a very very good mobile!

Hello. Can someone please tell me if we can change the Vodafone plate for the one that Z800 had? It's not only a question of style... with the Z800 plate you don't spread fingertipos all over the phone...
Here, in Portugal, Sony Ericsson said to me that it's not possible to change...

this fone aint that gud to b honest, got it 2 days ago and the camera dont have zoom, u need to have the smallest pic size/quality to get zoom and u have to dload mp3 from the vodafone site to use them as ringtones, u cant use ur own mp3s as ringtones.
