Luisfer: Im guessing that the software versions vary from different regions. Here in Southeast Asia, the latest (accdg to SE) is CXC1250317 R4CK003. As long as there are no bugs, it doesnt matter which sw version you have.
As for your backlight, I have not noticed it while taking a call. I'll check and let u know. There is no option for changing the backlight setting. Only the brightness. One unique battery saving feature of our phone is that it has a sensor that detects surrounding light. If you will notice, the keypad light only turns on when you are in a dark place.
My battery lasts 3 days. I listen to mp3/radio for a couple of hours a day, play a few minutes of games, normal text and calls. Im assuming since your phone is quite new, your battery's maximum life is not yet achieved. Wait until a few charges, Im sure its life will increase.
To Carbonize & everyone who can help!
I've just bought my w810i a few days ago and saw that my software is the cxc1250316 r4ck003, my cda is cda 102555/107 r2a is this the latest software or do i have to update it??
--another question, every time i am talking on the phone with someone else, the screen backlight is on all the time, never turning off, even if i talk for 1 hour its on, and i assume this drains my battery, is this normal or should it go off after a few seconds, also searched for backlight in the menu and can't find it, some help??
-- I've been having to charge my battery every 24-36 hours, i only talk around 1 - 2.5 hours/ day, send around 5sms, listen to 2-3 songs and that's it, shouldn't my battery last longer, i have my keys with the sound turned off and my brightness on 50%.
I would really appreciate if you answer my email.
I've heared the same thing too, I'm getting mine in later today so I'll tell you not what I think about the speaker, but what the fact of the matter is ;)
Carbonize, regarding the sms space counter, our phone has it, just a different version. If you are down to your last 20 characters in sms1, it will count down. From 20 to 1 then it will show sms2 if you've exceeded it.
For sending sms to various persons, aside from the caller groups, you can also tick the names. When u r abt to send the sms, enter the contacts look up, then instead of pressing "select", you press "more" then choose "mark several" then u just tick the names. this way u can send sms to various people without repeating the process.
I've also had a motorola before and i was quite glad w810 has this feature too.
Which really is the latest firmware? Mine is CXC1250317 R4CK003000000. Anyways, so long as it works...
For those who want free themes, wallpapers, games, etc. go to zedge.net. Its loaded with stuff for our w810!
for all regarding the speaker volume. if you invest in decent phones and ditch the stock sony ones the volume is fine, unless you want to be deaf in a fortnight.
just how loud do some peole need music? believe me its well loud enough!
it's a great phone i'm well pleased i got rid of the n70.
@ bonbonita...may i ask you from which country you come, pls? Since you've got the latest firmware (CXC1250318 R4CE012000000) i might try to update mine from your country's side. Thanks
@ frank, re-firmware update, it's in here somewhere, be patient and scroll through this forum. About the screen, either you wash your face thoroughly, just kidding ;o) or do what I did, I used Johnson's wax polish sprayed a tiny bit on a lint-free cloth (cloth for specs cleaning is fine), wipe off the smudges and hey presto! clean as a whistle! Best if you buy a leather cover or a plastic one, depends on your taste, to protect your phone!
hey, how do i check my firmware version and which one is the newest?
also, what do you guys use to wash your screen, it always gets filthy!!
thanks, great phone!
I am currently moving from Sony 700i to either 800i or 810i. But now i am a little confused on which one to get even thought the specs are much differnet.
There is nothing wrong with the speaker nor the volume. People just don't seem to realise that you have the ringtone volume and then you have the master volume. The master volume defaults to 4 (out of 8) everytime you turn the phone off and on but with the master volume at 8 the speaker is plenty loud.
hey im in dilemma right now..
i wanna buy this SE w810i hp but i heard the speaker quality is not so good.
is it true?
is the volume is too low?
can some one explain to me?
please reply at this forum/email me..
ssiiiggggghhhhhhh, this phone is SEXY!!! but i'm in a dilemma, should i go for this phone or wait for w710??? hmmm...
Just on silly q...i'm transfering my converted avi to qt file (only 9MB) to my MS using USB cable, but it's always failing. What could be my problem? The file being either an original Mpeg or the converted one, are both failing to be transfered to the Memory Stick/MSSEMC/other folder or should it be another one folder, which I doubt? Also why is there another MP3 subfolder in the Memory Stick when there's the subfolder MSSEMC/Media files/audio/New folder?...I created 'My Mp3 Files' folder.
Vince some just have bought newer phones so obviously newer firmware. Some like Arj took theres to service centres who updated it for them. Possibly they just see the new firmware as a bug fix and are only giving it to service centers for now and will upload it to the web at some point in near future. I have no bugs with my phone so not in any rush to update. Actually I have one bug to with the background of the animations in SMS messags when I view my sent ones but it's no biggy. All I can see updates doing for me is possibly speeding up picture taking and minor things like that.
Oooooh! I don't wanna drop mine! I hate scratches! I'm so meticulous, wanna keep mine in mint condition, always wax polishing my screen, TRUE! :o)
Gaea I have used Motorola for years and when I tried the K700i I found th etexting to be crap but now I have a W800i and I have to say the texting is quite good. The T9 even comes with stupid texting slang such as l8r and m8. The only way I could see it being improved is if they had a character counter so you could see how many characters you had used. At present you just get notified when you go past 160 characters. Motorola has the best sending I know of because once you select send it just shows you your contacts and you tick any/all that you want to send to. This phone is almost as good because you press send then get the option of entering a new number or searching contacts but also it lists the last numbers/contacts you sent messages to for faster sending.
