Bot W890i 3months ago. did not dnload anything new from internet nor computer. The ringtone alert and message alert just fail to work, vibrate alert still works. Can still play music and videos with sounds. Its not a hardware (speaker) problem. I have tried taking battery out , taking the memory card out , Master reset, Software update from sony ericson. Still cannot fix the problem. Have you all got any suggestions. Much appreciated.

is it possible if we change it bst-30 with bst-40?
is it compatible??
please answ... moreBST-40 battery will cause a slight bulge right in the area of the M2 card.
Be wary that the right upper latch may keep on pry open due to the slightly larger battery size.
It's best to keep the phone in a case so the back cover doesn't just open up. It's easier with a silicon or crystal case which offers access to the 2 latch switches.
i own this phone but it fell into the water

I live in South-Africa and I bought a Sony Ericsson w890. I would like to update its firmware. Can any one please send me the link. Thank you very much!
I got the phone about 2 months ago, everything about it is awesome, but it has a problem, and I'm not sure if its an internal malfunction or I some how damaged after i bought it. See, it tends to "hang", it will stop responding and restart it's self. Its done that three times since i got it, when it does this the little hole next to the Sony Ericsson crest emits a red light, anybody got any help?
W902 is W810i's and W890i sucessor
yes might aswell buy W890i and save the money
W902 only has 5MP, 8GB M2 in package, rest is all same..
which is Boring....
agg, 26 Sep 2008hey . i've been comparing with this and the W902. it seems tht the only difference is the 5.0 ... moreThe w902 is the successor to the w890.
You can buy the 8gb M2 card for the w890 so capacity isn't an issue.
The keypad is slightly smaller on the w890.
The main difference is the upgraded camera.
If you already have a (digital) camera, stick with the w890 and save some money.
hey . i've been comparing with this and the W902. it seems tht the only difference is the 5.0 mp. but the price difference is big. i hope some1 can tell me on which phone would be worth buying. thanks
Note to any US T-Mobile users:
According to various T-Mobile USA phone and tech support reps, 3G service is NOT available since T-Mobile USA's 3G network runs on UMTS 1700/1900 NOT UMTS 2100 which this phone and other SE phones operate on to get 3G! There are no current plans to extend the frequency range since the 3G network has started to roll out across the USA using only the 1700/1900 frequencies.
Just have to stick with GSM with T-Mobile USA or get a phone that will use UMTS 1700/1900 for their 3G service!
Richard, 22 Sep 2008I bought an unlocked W890i for use with my AT&T wireless account. Can anyone tell me what set... moreContact ATT to send your phone the settings via text. Open the attachment in the text and it'll automatically update the settings for you.
T-Mobile USA does this. Not sure if ATT USA does it!
