As far as compitition concerns, n96 is already announced. But where's the 16GB 5MP walkman smartphone? You informed us that w960 was the first 8gb smartphone. But this time they are behiend.

And even if they don't have an agreement (very unlikely) what happens when UIQ does eventually die? SE stop making smartphones? Not gonna happen, they'll get a new license. As for the small increase in screen size - yeah, it does make an improvement. Your point was that there are lots of differences between the two versions of the phone, my point is that there aren't really that many differences...

And just take a look at the gsmarena review of n95 8gb. It says the tiny difference of 0.2" makes a huge improvement of the screen quality. It also gives richer picture quality and makes watching video much more enjoyable.

The biggest one is the 8gb flash drive. The 8gb model also has a slightly bigger screen, faster GPRS, a better battery and double the RAM. That's all. And as for SE not having any other OS - what a piece of nonsense. Does that mean that if UIQ dies, SE will need to stop releasing smartphones? Don't be ridiculous - they'll just get a new license. And isn't the Xperia X1 being released with windows mobile? I do believe it is. Check your facts...

Secondly se devoloped p5 because they thought that it will be a success. But they canceled it thinking that it will not last in the race anymore. It means they realised that uiq lost its place in the race. And nokia launched n95 8GB because it was a improved version of original n95 in many cases.

And fair enough, the N95 8gb and the N82 are very similar, but they're in different price brackets. I fail to see how the cancellation of the P5 proves that UIQ is no longer popular. If it was simply the operating system that lead to the phone being cancelled, wouldn't they just use a different operating system? The phone got cancelled because it simply couldn't offer enough. Let's face it - if you're developing a sportscar, and the brake shoes you plan to use are rubbish, you install different brake shoes, you don't cancel development of the car...

But still all of them are market success because Nokia has enough fans to make 3 simillar phones successful at once. So it seems that you are saying that no se fans are left to make p5 successful. And SE cancelled this after along time after its devolopment started. So it clearly shows the decreaseing popularity of the UIQ platform.

Not interesting enough to post twice though. Cancellation of the P5 doesn't prove that UIQ is dead, it proves that the features on the P5 weren't different enough from the existing phones to justify charging the price they woulda had to ask to make any kinda money on it...
