But still, I dont think u should buy this, Ive had mine for little over a year, and I recommend that u find another one.

i personally felt some functions are pretty good(one of the finest being the Fm transmitter) but 8Gigabyte is surprising used up fast also it hangs,restarts and at times fail to play videos...overall functional but not so good.

Q1 how do you select a ringtone for your incoming meassages as i have went to the meassage ringtone settings and you can only select the inbuilt w980i tones which is about 5 but i see no option to change it to my own tone like you can for the ringtones when somone phones you.
Q2 can you make the phone auto select the time and date screen when you close it instead of it selecting the walkman phone part at all ?
Q3 Can you change the delay time of when you close the phone the front screen goes off as it takes to long for me i want to shorten it to go into standby.

The firmware your W980 has is the main and only factor. The fact that your Nokia's transmitter works means it has a firmware not designed for your country, OR your W980 has a firmware incorrect for your region.
Getting your W980 flashed at your local phone store with another country's firmware should fix that up lickety split.

i m going to buy this phone in a couple of days. being a SE user for now 2 years(w810) i had SMS storage problems from start as w810 only has about 200 sms storage space. so how much sms storage capacity w980 has?

w980 vs w960, 17 Dec 2009w980 vs w960 loudspeaker?i think both have the same loudness. well, it depends or your speaker condition's too. in fact, its walkman. any walkman had loud speakers compare to other series of SE..well,in my opinion.. =)

I've been using SE phones for a couple of years and i find this phone overall not bad. Although sometimes the sensitivity of the walkman screen isnt good, but its mostly ok.

anbu, 30 Nov 2009anyone know how to extend message tone for w980? I just buy this phone last day, when I change... moretry using SE W960.. I've used one lately.When I receive a message, it will not stop until the whole song is played.so, i have to cut the song into 10 seconds because it really annoys u when u have 3 or 4 messages coming through.someone correct me if I'm wrong.Sorry for bad english

shane, 14 Dec 2009Fm transmitter?the FM transmitter is like u can connect your walkman (your songs inside the phone) to the radio and listen it through the speaker.it works with the audio player inside the car too. but u must synchronized the frequency first,if I'm not mistaken. by the way,i used my friend's w980 cause I'm using w960..

From last 2 months I am suffering because the flap of this phone has broken and the phone is under warranty . Despite all efforts i am not getting any feed back and the dealer at Noida is also helpless . So have you tried updating the firmware at all? This is my 3rd year using SE and I've yet to experience freezing or any software related issues.
I can't really say call clarity on the W980 is good. It's ok, but I can't call it good. Samsung does well in loud places (me being an ex-Samsung user), but with the W980 the sound is too 'breaky' and sounds pretty bad. To top that off, the mike is in the wrong place. But then , the W980 does better in quieter places.

First can i just say I have been a faithful SE user for quite some years. I have one of these. I took one in replacement for a snazzy SE K850i camera Phone, which kept locking up on me. To be fair, As a phone its been spot on, call clarity A1, although a few issues with the original firmware but after that all was good. APART FROM the FM transmitter. I used it to kisten to an album at work and hey presto, the phone locked up, and basically, everytime i use the fm transmitter now, it does the same thing, it has now even extended to normal mp3 playback using headphones now. Not impressed. Too much crammed into too small a space methinks. Gonna get me a Nokia nextime round

kieren, 08 Dec 2009hey i ended up gettin this phone but just wana know how to make music songs my ringtone? as on... moreI have a SE W810 it will only use ringtones of mp3 files that are less than 30 seconds. If you have pc use wave pad or if you have mac use garage band to cut the files to size
