Thats so true.n96 is an n95 in a gucci suit.heres wat they did they released the n95 which was great and made lots of sales.
now they can sell n96 to these exact same people.Coz i honestly believe that nokia users are 3 ctegories:-
1.people who have been using nokia since forever and got used to its functions and trust its credibility.
Since nokia came out long before SE,when it was only ericsson and its only use is to chuck it at somebody's head or go fight with it.
so back then nokia were the best phones (and they had snake and space impact..lol)so they built that credibilty and trust by people.
that exact credibility that its really losing now.
2.people who dont know much about phones.Who simply been told to buy a nokia as it is the most reliable phone according to its past(Not).or they simply see a lot of people with nokias so they go for it.
3.rich people,businessmen,rich brats or just show off people who want to get the latest most expensive gear regardless of quality.(i call them Paris hiltons)
So 2&3 are a lot and a lot of them have money and can buy them both.But the ones that dont have money end up with a nokia and a regret.
i just pity them for not have tried the SE.

Guys, N96 is not even released ?? How can you comment on music quality ??
Nokia Website saus N78 has "Superb Music Quality" ... Good ! Read on ...
but for N96 they just say "great Music Player"
So, it seems that N96's music would be average only - like n95 only ...

Hey guys, i have a w960 is a great phone, but the symbian software slows it down badly for sure im gonna sell it and get this one, has all i need, the design looks awesome and the features are more than enough, before the 960 i had a 850 and i loved that phone so much, it was great, im not saying that the 960 is bad is just not for me, i changed my phone for the n95 8g for a day, and let me tell you that sorry, is not worth it, playing with the phone is fun, but nothing like a SE trust you wont go wrong with this one, and also the W350 i think im buying both the design look clasy, old school damm i just want them!!!

Trust me on this,Nokia had s presentation in my city and it had the N96 there and all i can say is that it is a N95 in a GUCI suit,its all the same(same hardware,software)it looks more modern and better build

I used to be a dedicated nokia user, but I haven't had a nokia phone that lasted longer than a year since the 3310. SE are far superior...

you are wrong Elcrocodilio because to use the shake control you have to press the "Walkman" button at the same time as shaking it.
but in my opinion its very obvious that this is not a "high-end" phone. This is a middle range handset. Therefore you cant really compare this to the likes of N95 8GB because the target audience are different as well as the purpose. But hey, if you really wanna carry on and buy a cheap plastic brick n95 8GB then go and buy it. As a normal user myself, although it can offer a lot of features, i know i wont be using a lot of it. And i just hope that noks would last you at least a year.

I think this phone is gr8.my beef with w980 is that its supposed to be a new generation & come on lets face it all its features have been released b4.come on,walkman 8gb,3.2M.P.,does it ring any bells.they just removed some of their hit features like touch screen,fm antenna & added useless features like shake control.come on imagine drivin wid shake conrol.each bump on the road gives u a different song.

Naa man.headphones that come with walkman phones is great but if u plug in ur own separate one is much better.but thats wat 4 do wid my w850 i plug great headphones in & da sound is awesome.much better than pc,ipods,iphones & ianything.

I really wouldn't say that using your own headphones is essential. Have you ever used the walkman phones' earpieces? They're so comfortable and they sound fantastic.
Not sure, though, why this phone is being called the flagship of the walkman series. It's simply not as good as the W960. 3.2mp camera, autofocus, flash (even if it is just an LED flash) and smartphone capabilities. Okay, so the W980 has an accelerometer (not really that big a deal as they're not used for too much right now) and SensMe (gimmicky). Not enough...

i thought the built in FM antena would make up for its lack of wifi and autofocus. but why had they ditched such an unique feature!?!? that lives this phone nothing much better than the W760. price is needless to say as it is W9xx. high!

Here is the truth. Putting AF 3 mega cam with LED flash and installing some cybershot camera interface is ' Nothing' for SE. But they purposely remove all those things. As long as SE separate cybershot and walkman, I won't buy any of those.

Atleast SE reached at apple ipod level after reading the review quite impressed.One day SE going kill evey brand in music phones.Good job SE keep it up.

After reading the review, all i can say is Nice design(outside) but nothing inside.
It may looks good in hand but there is no fun using it...I still think Nokia N95-8GB is batter (although a little big).

i think i would pick the ROKR E8 over this. i was impressed with the W980 initially when i saw it first, but ROKR wins because it has a 3.5mm jack on the unit itself (unlike this phone where u need to use a adapter). and for music buffs, using your own headphones is essential. what is good about this phone is that it's battery life and storage space is good. i am not sure which phone has better quality. the accelerometer is a pricey and unnecessary feature (IMHO, it's really illogical to shake your phone to control music when you have buttons for it in the front, they could've found a better use for the accelerometer). but then this phone is a flagship model, meaning it's gonna cost rediculously high.

N96 is a definite killer mobile but it's expensive, as compared to SEs. This phone is music-related, and non-smart. N96 is smartphone. You cannot really compare the two.
