XPERIA ARC : Smart Zoom Feature
PhoeniXperiArc., 19 Mar 2011there is something called "smart zoom" in Arc (up to 2.46x), does anyone know what e... moreSmart zoom works in a different way to digital zoom. It is cleverer and does not degrade the quality of the photo. The downside of this type of zoom is that you cannot use the full resolution of your camera when you are using Smart Zoom. For example in its 8 megapixel cam it only becomes available at 7 megapixels and below. This type of zoom works in a similar way to a photo editing package. If you have taken a high resolution picture and you do not like something towards the edge of the photo or you would like to highlight your subject more you can crop the outside of the picture. In other words you simply cut out the centre of the shot and throw away the remainder of the picture you no longer want. Smart Zoom is able to do this within the camera itself, before you take the shot.
This is the reason why you need to take the picture at a lower resolution. It gives the camera something to work with. So when you are taking a five megapixel photo with an eight megapixel camera it knows it is able to cut out and throw way up to three megapixels around the outside of the image. If you take a one megapixel image the Smart Zoom becomes even more powerful as it can cut away seven megapixels of the image if it needs to.

To all those people expecting full hd recording with the Arc, please understand that full hd requires a processor that supports full hd video encoding. And only dual core processors support FHD encoding, only the samsung hummingbird single core can encode FHD.Arc processor (MSM8255) does not

ARC, 19 Mar 2011Better search for the article EXMOR R on google before making a comment. better use ur eyes to c the fact before make a comment ! I've c many reviews of the arc, none make the capture picture that bright! too much bright when the room is completely dark. even a digital camera can't do it.
