abhi, 05 Mar 2011Yeah, ericsson was the one who helped Sony at that time but now it's nothing for Sony. At that... moreIs there any japanese brand that could retain their existence continuously beside sony (with ericsson)? Their policy might be changed when they have to be exist in two different kind of markets. Japanese markets are unique when we compare to the global markets. Unless the London HQ can be occupied by the japanese... but I doubt they will
My point is those japanese brands need partnership when they're gonna go international and keeping their existence, coz basically they will working twice harder - for japanese and overseas markets.
And to counter all your informations about the awesome tech that Sony has achieved, people dont need them right now. You see, people now (just) want to try to make video calling, a feature that common in japan since 2005
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2011Absolutely no way!! Sorry abhi, I would never agree about this. Where were Sony in the world m... moreI'm mentioning just some extremely Awesome technologies which Sony has developed just for mobiles from a long time but they r nowhere to be seen in SE phones - TransferJet( a wireless technology which can make the phones transfer data at the insanely fast speed of 550 mbps speed & remember no wires r needed in this tech, it's like bluetooth) , (12 mpx, 16 mpx & 17.7 mpx camera modules which can record Full HD videos at 120 fps) , hybrid wires which can make phones insanely thin & durable & bendable, OLED screens which Sony has been using in their walkmans, PDA's, Tv's from long time but nothing in SE phones, Qriocity media based demand service which can't even be seen in SE phones.
I heard Arc doesnt get any upgradation form Android 2.3.. is it so ?? why ?? does it mean its a bad thing ?

Where were Sony in the world m... moreYeah, ericsson was the one who helped Sony at that time but now it's nothing for Sony. At that time Sony was just a newcomer which didn't have any knowledge abt phones. That's why their phones didn't do well. In starting yrs even samsung was struggling to make good phones but they never partnered with anyone(they didn't have anyone to be partner with :-P) & now they r going ahead of everyone due to their unification at one place(south korea).
Now a days Sony is announcing so many new technologies for mobile phones(check out Global Sony site) which would have been in SE from 1st day if it was just Sony.
Take a look at NGP - only one thing is needed in it to make it World's best phone ever & that is ability to make calls(cellular chip).
Sony has enough experience now & they can do thousand times better if they do everything on their own. Sony
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2011Absolutely no way!! Sorry abhi, I would never agree about this. Where were Sony in the world m... moreYou are right too in some parts. Ericsson is a major developer of telecommunication as you said, but I think that because of Ericsson SE is not among the 3 best mobile phone manufacturers. And it is annoying that almost every SE phone is made in China, and NOT in Japan or Sweden! We can't really trust China, because of their government.
abhi, 05 Mar 2011I have always wanted Sony to get out of this partnership with Ericsson. It's not working out ... moreI agree with you, that Sony is advanced, and they should split up. Sony is on a different level. Sony sounds cool, but Sony Ericsson sounds weird! :)) I would like Sony to produce some phones at least for Japan, to see what they are capable to do. :-> About the headquarters, there are at different places, and it is very logic for me. The Sony workers are almost 100% Japanese people, but this is different at SE...

Where were Sony in the world market when they were just a singleton player? Not even as a main player in japan. Yes Sony has all the advanced multi media tech, but Ericsson that built the market for Sony when we talk about telecommunication devices.

It's not working out at all...
Ericsson does nothing but complicate the things for Sony.
Due to SE being a joint venture, Sony's communication with SE is almost null. Sony hardly gives permission to use their technology in SE phones. Morover the headquarters, research facilities, manufacturing units, management of Sony & SE r located at diff. places making their communication with each other almost impossible. Even the engineers in SE r not the ones which work for Sony.
SE is working as a completely separate entity & getting nothing from sony.
If the mobile department had been 100% sony's part situated at their headquarters in Tokyo than sony's mobile phones would have been the top selling devices in the market due to latest tech implementations from sony & sony would have put much more money into it's mobile division without fearing abt any kind of loss.

Hey guys... how many of u want Sony to break their partnership with Ericsson & start making their phones on their own ???
Jiten, 05 Mar 2011Xperia arc versus Xperia neo which should you choose? Sony Ericsson has created a dilemma... moreare you blind? look at xperia neo's specs again. the 320MB is the INTERNAL memory, not the RAM. so all in all, xperia arc's advantage only over xperia neo is it's larger screen. :)
I've heard that there were problems with the Dr. Dre Beats headphones not working correctly with the xperia X10.. Does anyone know if the Arc will be compatible with the headphones... Specially I believe it was a problem with the Control Talk headphone cable...
no secondary camera what the shit is this
in todays world it is necessary
neo pro and play have a front facing camera ... why arc doesn't have it ?
Phoenix, 05 Mar 2011Oh_my_GOD!! You're really here man?!! i know it might be hard to believe for you, but i was th... moreYeah mate im back... ive been busy, but its time to upgrade phone so its time to do some research... how are you?.. hows doin here?.... you're right mate.. there so many new phones with great hardware and features... its up to the user what suites them best... well im up with the looks right now, and these arc seems to be the sexiest of them all..
Xperia arc versus Xperia neo which should you choose?
Sony Ericsson has created a dilemma for many people in the upcoming launches of the Xperia arc and Xperia Neo. Judging by recent poll, 70 percent of you are looking forward to the Xperia arc versus only 11 percent wanting the Xperia Neo (the balance was split between the Xperia Play and Xperia Pro). However, having gone hands-on with both phones recently, we are beginning to think that many people will be swayed by the Neo once they can see it in the flesh.
Yes, the Xperia Neo is chunkier than the arc, but the anodised metallic look combined with the extra weight gives it a more premium feel. Plus, it also comes with a crucial extra a front-facing camera. This omission from the Xperia arc even left some of the Sony Ericsson reps we spoke to slightly bemused.
Combine this with the fact that the Xperia Neo is around 100 cheaper than the Xperia arc, yet offers most of the arcs headline features (1GHz processor, 8.1MP Exmor R camera, HDMI and Bravia Engine) then it seems that the Neo could be a potential best-seller for Sony Ericsson. On the flip side, there is no denying that the Xperia arc is a more beautiful phone. The general trend towards larger displays, also means many people will naturally gravitate to the arc.
So which handset should you choose? There is no doubt in our mind that the Xperia Neo offers the better value for money. You get most of the same features plus the bonus of the front-facing camera (for those that need it). However, comparing the two side-by-side, there is no denying that the arc is more desirable. Whether this and an extra 0.5-inch in display real estate warrants the extra money will come down to your disposable budget.
1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset
8.1MP Exmor R camera sensor
Bravia Engine display
HD video recording (720p)
Xperia arc advantages
Larger 4.2-inch screen (Xperia neo has a 3.7-inch screen)
Thinner and lighter despite the larger display
512MB ROM (versus 320MB for Xperia neo)
Xperia Neo advantages
Front-facing camera (missing on the Xperia arc)
