I've had this mobile for almost a month now and I would like to clear a few things. I did post an earlier review but since there are still so many doubts, i will base my review based on issues rather than the conventional parameters.
Electrostatic noise? What noise? Unless the awesome music coming out of my mobile is defined as noise by humans, there is no perceived noise! xLoud, honestly, does a great job of giving an almost surround kind of an effect. Really, I have no clue why this issue is being discussed. Either the problem has been solved and the recent batches of the handsets do not have the problem or the problem is restricted to the Xperia Mini.
The screen estate is not as big as an Arc or an S2. So the 1200mAh does a decent job. I don't use this phone for heavy talking. have a nokia for that. But roughly spend about 30 mins everyday with the Mini Pro. Otherwise, my 2G n/w is forever on. I keep tweeting or at least checking my timeline every 15 mins. Listen to music for roughly 1-1.5 hours, play Chess, paper planes and Drag race that account for about an hour across the day. And then of course, heavy texting, browsing the news, stocks, etc, etc. With the above usage parameters, I manage to get about 12-14 hours on an average which is very decent! With a bit more talking, I guess it would come down to 10-12.
The heating happens only if you play heavy games for prolonged periods. Otherwise, I have about 20 apps installed in addition to the ones pre-installed and the phone still functions as if there's nothing inside. the 1GHz processor is more than enough to satiate anything you want to do with your mobile.
The phone, I admit, is a bit bulky. Sometimes, if you are reading something for a long period, you start feeling the weight. That aside, the phone looks good and though the pixel density is not as good as the other Xperias, you just cannot see the difference.
Honestly, the Mini might have several problems but the Mini pro, at least the one I own, is problem free. My only concern is whether Sony will roll out Ice Cream Sandwich for the mini pro.
i think after reading this thread no one dare to buy this phone.... isnt it

i am a big fan of tis mini pro but a... morehope this issues only for xperia MINI,
Can somebody tell us, are those issues in mini PRO too?
This Mini pro is faster than my Galaxy SL, better battery backup, nice animations and buttery smooth. Love it...
i am a big fan of tis mini pro but aftr seen above thred fearing a lot to take this phone...
Whilst a generally decent phone, my opinion has become more negative. During the last few months (~6) I've noticed that the screen freezes at the most importunate times - when typing emails, Face Book answering calls etc.
I am now at the stage ready to throw this handset away and get something else more stable.
hi i hav read that xperia mini( i think not mini pro )has high heating problem in one of the thread ... is it correct ...is mini pro also hav it....
to be honest the one thing that annoys me with this phone is that the illumination of the physical keyboard is weak. It really needs to be bumped up. As well it turn off really quickly.Hope this thing would be fixed by SE in an upgrade.
AnonD-27297, 22 Oct 2011guys...mine's slider is little shaky....it wobbles while pressing the touch screen....is it co... moreDon't worry about it, mine is like this as well..since day 2 it feels a bit shaky when using the touchscreen and keyboard folded, it's a mechanical process that is bound to become loose a bit and have a little bit of travel with the first days of usage, it's like a break in period for the springs and such...i believe that it will stay like this what matters is that it locks firmly when the keyboard is open...
krishna, 23 Oct 2011is this phone has
heating problem like mini
and is static noise eliminated or not...I have this fone for a couple of days now i can say for sure that:
1- I don't have/perceived any electrostatic noise while operating this fone.
2- what do you mean by overheating? My old x10 overheated when i spent time using it and working the CPU, so does this one...i guess this normal. However, in regular usage it doesn't..
Anand, 24 Oct 2011I am using this devise since last week. I am totally satisfied with the performance of the c... moreI have found that the problem is in the plugs themselves..try another type, luckily i still have my x10 x-bass plugs which are awesome comparing to the ones available with the mini pro...don't forget at well to fine tune the audio with the x-loud and equalizer stuff...
AnonD-26368, 24 Oct 2011My one only concern is Will this be upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich??According to SE yes it will...all their 2011 fones will be eligible...in addition, Google stated that ICS will not be that heavy on hardware and would actually operate on older devices with less hardware power
I have had this phone for a couple of days now and i can say it really rocks...i would preferred the xperia pro with the bigger screen but it is not available in my country as i was searching for an android device with physical keyboard. I was impressed by the mini pro as really it is not that mini...in landscape mode with keyboard open, it is as big in size as of of any BB device and even the screen is bigger (Bold 2 ,curve etc..) so as a smart device for emailing an texting stuff it is really good. Apart from being super fast and has a really vivid screen, nice looks and finishing...this fone is the best you can find for the price/specs..i enourage any1 with doubts to get it.
My one only concern is Will this be upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich??
AnonD-27093, 24 Oct 2011In my phone i can not use zoom while recording videos. Is it really same for everyone?almost all experia family have no zooming options, u need to install zooming application.
I am using this devise since last week.
I am totally satisfied with the performance of the cellphone.
