after the last news about updating Xperia 2011 phones to ICS
... morehere is an update from the Sony developer blog on the issue of ICS update for the 2011 xperia phones.
Updated – comment from the Developer
We we would like to clarify that above
mentioned “challenges” have already been
addressed by our SW engineering teams . For
instance, we have not only optimised the RAM
management by making the RAM usage for
internal apps as good as possible, but we will
also introduce a Performance assistant at start
up when running ICS. In this Performance
assistant, you can enable and disable certain
services that you might not want to run on your
phone, in order to optimise the performance of
We have also worked with quite a few partners
in regards to architecture optimisations for SQL
handling. In addition, we have also optimised
the hardware usage. And as a result of this
article, a number of app developers have
notified us that they are evaluating if HW
optimisation will be needed or not for their
The aim of this article was to share our
knowledge regarding the different
characteristics for ICS and Gingerbread in an
open way, as we strive to have an open
communication with the developer community.
All in all, we would like to point out that it’s our
clear aim to deliver an as good ICS update as
ever possible. As you might have seen on the
Sony Xperia Product Blog, we’re not far from
releasing it now. Thanks for all the feedback!
Interesting comment by Sony sw engineers on ICS vs Gingerbread debate. Very soon ICS update will be out. Read this....

Murni, 02 Apr 2012Hi, Anyone can recommend good and stable "battery saving" application for NEO? Having used my Neo v for 4 months nw, saying this, there s no app in reality thats gonna save u battery... But there are many in the google play that tell that they save battery power.. Use common sense, even these battery saver apps r apps... They consume battery js by running in d background.. u can however, reduce d brightness level to 50%, turn off data transmission when not in use. Turn off bluetooth, wifi when not in use... Close the apps after use.. Still few apps open despite being closed.. Best option s not to install any battery saver apps.. I used n stopped using it.. Getting much better battery backup....
There is an app for playing other formats than the phone already does, try Rockplayer, its free and great.

smsma, 31 Mar 2012Don't buy Sony Mobiles again after the last news about updating Xperia 2011 phones to ICS ... moreAt least they are being honest about it unlike other manufacturers. Sony's dev team is the most friendly. I had other issues like terrible heating and poor built quality which made the phone squeak. Other than that, I appreciate the work and openness they've shown so far. Just sharing my two cents, they should have come up with ICS with their new flagship device Xperia S rather than GB. I am sure that no one who is sensible would mind a delay of 15-20 days against a stable update.
