Hi Guys and Gals, i'm thinking of getting this phone but i have a semi-technical question.
What's the max resolution mp4 video that can play smoothly on this phone without needing to recode to the baseline profile. I would like to play movies downloaded directly from the internet without converting. Also how's divx/xvid playback?
the phone is awesome, I got this phone few days back. the gaming graphics is not better than a PSP, playing games in it isn't easier either.overall it's really awesome!!!!
xperia play i will get it after 5 day im so happy i could,t even sleep just thinking about that phone
will there ever be xperia play 2 or the are not going to come out with one any body knows
@ Ex Nokia User:
There is an app that does that. Search for 'camera mod' on the market.
I hope one day there is a software that can replace 'R'Gaming button as camera shutter in camera mode
What I really love about the play is that it's awesome as a phone as well as a gaming device!
Keep in mind that the play is not sacrificing anything that other phones have! The play has an awesome screen, great rocking speakers, good camera and a very smooth and fast running OS.
So really the play has it all, and when it comes to its price it's also not beatable!
What's more? Both Sony and S/E will continue to support this baby!
So, believe me you won't go wrong at all buying this phone, I promise you that you will enjoy it a lot! Phoning + gaming + multimedia :D
jit, 05 Nov 2011play or arc S,which one is better can anyone suggest for it.
If you need a good camera and want an updated photography experience in your device, go for the Arc S. For everything else, the Play is very similar but has the addition of the full gaming pad.
The Play's camera is awful as it lacks a dedicated camera button and Sony Ericsson's wonderful camera interface.
It's all about the camera vs gaming. Decide what's more important to you, and go from there.

Hi,I just want to ask how much are the games ps and android when you download it?I'm from the Philippines.
this is a very good phone is good for anything playing game, music, camera, browse internet...
I want to buy it as i want to test my project on it..its a simulation model for 3D objects , Can any one tell be about its processor and Image quality ?
Anyone else notice that the screen at the bottom half a centimetre (just above the keys, i.e. where the media/messaging/menu/contacts and phone buttons are)is irregularly responsive?
Apart from this issue the phone has been fine but it's really starting to grate at me.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G is a gaming phone and it’s obviously going to need a processor that’s capable of running games smoothly. In line with that, the phone comes with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor for all of its processing needs as well as an Adreno 205 GPU to provide more processing power for graphics alone. Aided by a 512MB RAM means it runs fast enough to tackle all the possible needs that may arise from the use of this phone.
