The Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G is a gaming phone and it’s obviously going to need a processor that’s capable of running games smoothly. In line with that, the phone comes with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor for all of its processing needs as well as an Adreno 205 GPU to provide more processing power for graphics alone. Aided by a 512MB RAM means it runs fast enough to tackle all the possible needs that may arise from the use of this phone.

Hi, I'm in South Africa and have found one of these devices at www.expansys.co.za for a very good price and I also found out that the DStv Mobile Drifta works on this device very well.

Anonymous, 30 Oct 2011To buy or wait for xperia play 2(or a similar phone with PS certification)?Because some people... moreI own a Sony Xperia Play. The only PSP certified phone in the market. It is really fun to play games. but, the biggest negative point is the internal memory. Most games on android need phone memory as storage. So, you cant carry too many games on your phone at once. But, the graphics are awesome.
To buy or wait for xperia play 2(or a similar phone with PS certification)?Because some people complained about the CPU preference and the RAM.
And are there any rumors about a new PS certified phone?
just upgraded to 2.3.4 new themes and refreshing look
with changes to icons.....wonderful

bluetooth for what? u buy this phone for gaming only. come ON la!! LoL
Sony Ericsson is now just "Sony".
It's official now...
is it possible to play black ops or modern warefare 2 on this phone,if so do you have to pay for it
This is a great phone for people who know it's emulation capability. It's the reason why I bought this phone. The 5MP camera is nice but no 2.3.4 update for some countries. Some problems are the bloatware. ~100MB is not enough. The battery life is a bit on the short side, but the future updates or the mods we find on XDA Developers side will improve it. MUCH BETTER to play on physical controns rather than touch which the fingers will hide the screen making gameplay harder. I can easily recommend it, but wait for Sony to make one with those Tegra Chips and hopefully a better battery.
timizn5, 24 Oct 2011can you play final fantasy 8 in this cellphone>?I don't think SE made a Xperia Play version yet, but you can download a PSX/PS1 emulator and ROM.
Of course it can. The operating system it runs on is Android. What did you honestly think?
The phone itself can only go up to 2.3.3 for the moment. PS1 games can be played with ease if copied over to the emulator. I have read that games like Gran Turismo may have some problems as they crash, although haven't tried this for myself.
GMote works on this phone wonderfully. Audio is very impressive with the headphones supplied after installing Mixzing and mVideoPlayer. Although the sound from my Sennheiser CX300-II's is a little better.
I haven't tried any remote login apps such as VNC as of yet but as my Desire has no problems, I feel this shouldn't either.
The front facing camera is very grainy though. But that's not really what the phone was intended for.
