Anonymous, 27 Nov 2011it does use auto-brightness. angle it towards a lamp and you will notice it. the auto-brightne... morei tried now, and it really flickers, not good no, the OP was right, he should not buy this phone. Everyone else who considers xperia pro should also consider this issue. its not flashing or anything bad, but flickering yes. Absolutely NOT the way autobrightness should be, but i suspect someone here is fanboi and not open for well founded critics against SE or Xperia series.
Anonymous, 27 Nov 2011stop moaning - the mcafee software is good and not a trial.the mcafee slows down the fone and does nothing, just like mcafee on PC. And if u were awake the last 10 years u wud know that Mcafee has themself been target for viruses and hackers exploiting vulnerabilities in mcafee software. Some viruses on windows required mcafee to do their damage, it was a bad virus, hard to remove since mcafee defacto protected the virus. I cud make a bad app to slow down your phone and drain your battery and give u a 1 year full license, would that make you happy also?
Please uninstall mcafee guys, its bloatware that drain your battery and slow down your phone. Uninstall and see the difference for yourself. Those of you who cannot use common sense to avoid malware please buy protection from a serious company, like FSecure.
please, i wanted to buy this but not so sure where i can get one to buy .Can someone help me out. Am from Ghana.
AnonD-4340, 27 Nov 2011it does not have auto-brightness at all. i think the light sensor is there, but not being used. it does use auto-brightness. angle it towards a lamp and you will notice it. the auto-brightness feature is just implemented so well that you don't notice it in normal use - this is exactly the way that auto-brightness should be.
emi133, 26 Nov 2011I've heard that sony ericsson phones have a feature called "auto-brightness" which c... moreit does not have auto-brightness at all. i think the light sensor is there, but not being used.
I did notice that the update had reinstalled the bloatware, mcafee and moxier, I now uninstalled those again and hope my fone will be smooth and snappy again, I will post back about it.
anyone else have ideas for improving performance?
Pls notice that the stupid bloated mcafee has to be updated before it can be uninstalled, so I consider to call it malware instead of bloatware now. Mcafee is just as bad for fones as it is for PC, scary that sony is in bed with those guys.
Anyone else wanna admit that the 4.0.2 sux, so we can determine the cause? My fone is seriously lagging in periods after update, and I did not install any apps since updating.
I've heard that sony ericsson phones have a feature called "auto-brightness" which causes the screen to flicker. And many of their phones dont have any option to turn-off this feature. Could anyone who owns xperia pro let me know if they're facing any screen-flickering issues and whether pro has a definite option to turn off "auto-brightness". Kindly help me out because I really really like this set but the only thing preventing me from buying this phone is this issue.

I've been reading this message board while waiting for this phone to release in India. I know that we're probably well past this point. But, I just wanted to thrown in my two cents worth in reviewing this phone.
Eight months of twiddling my thumbs and waiting for this phone has paid of very well. I've loved every minute of having it.
I'm pleasantly surprised, despite having all of the following phones in the family - Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Desire Z, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S. This one really kicks ass with, among other specs, the physical keyboard. The Desire Z is the only one that comes close in ease of use with its own keyboard. But, gets left way behind in screen quality, sound, camera, etc. And what an improvement the keyboard is over the poor experience I had with the Xperia X1!
Kudos to Sony for putting in the Arc S and Neo V upgrades into this phone also before actually releasing it. And, if they keep the software updates, especially the ICS update, keep coming smoothly, I don't see why I should need to change my phone for a very long time to come.
All in all, a very good buy for 24000.00. Those who must have a keyboard, look no further!

SE"Q=???, 25 Nov 2011Hi guys i have something to ask you what is the MAIN BROWSER of this mobile is that Safari Bro... moreThe main browser is the Android Browser which is based on Webkit (Safari also based on Webkit). That isn't important though, as you can install any browser you like and make it the default.
I don't know for sure about the second question as I have not tried it, but I think you can do this. There is an "Accessibility" feature in the settings menu for reading text aloud.

If you root you can use USB flash drives.
