X1 is better than any nokia even N96 ;) Please people don't make stupid coments like that... even on some stupid phones
day 2 on it and i love it, typing is easy, i love this phone soooo much, this message was typed from my black xperia x1i
Interested in buying this phone, was wondering if it's possible to use AOL instant messenger on it? Also, I'm new to touch screen phones, with the document viewer could you create a list and then use a stylus to draw a line through it?
Disadvantages:
1: poor reception
2: lousy camera
3: unreliable OS - WinMo
4: outrages quality control - cracked cases
5: bad battery performance
6: slow performance
7: xxK color :)))
8: limited memory (internal)
Advantages:
1: SE has an excuse - made by HTC
2: SE promised never let HTC make another SE model
3: not made by Sagem (like other SE models)
4: new model is announced already (Idou)
5: most people not surpriced
6: offered free with return/echange policy
7: slow sales (not many people got burned with this model)
8: it used to be very expensive
No wonder SE loses money each quarter.
why is such a pretty and cool phone having only 3.15mp for its camera. you see i`m now using a phone with 2mp and i clearly dn want to buy a phone that's not much difference since i take alot of pictures.
same applies on htc pro. on the other hand, lg prada has an increase to 5mp.
so, is this, htc pro or lg prada better?
which better: Xperia vs Omnia i900 vs Asus P565??
Finally the X1i has been released today in Australia through the '3 mobile' telco, as the X1a and Telstra combo was not to my liking.

nokia 5800 is amazing phone but the Xperia X1 out classes it, it is like putting a lightweight boxer in a heavyweight contest. The n97 will compete with the Xperia but the Xperia has so much flexibility including being able to use numerous vivid inter faces. Xperia is a brilliant piece of technology.

Sydney, 06 Apr 2009My battery only lasts 20 hours. Does anybody else have this problem??depending on how excessive is the phone and it's functions use it may be so. If you listen some 3h to radio or music + use Wireless + have a lot of calls during the day and type a lot sms's then it can be so as well - one day maybe a bit less than that.
The phone is very good though sometime hangs up for a second or so and then the processing continues. About the battery lifespan in 3G as 640h I wouldn't say so at all. About 450 - 500 h or so. Normal usage, couple of few min calls, one hour music some 10 - 15 sms and the battery holds about 3 days max + if there's excessive WiFi usage then even less = 2 days. Optionally three days it holds so I would say it is very good for this type of cell. It works as a flash card because of the mini USB and I find that very helpful + the 4 Gb included flash is more than enough for videos and music. The disappointing thing is that many apps for 6.1 don't want to work (at least didn't work on mine). It said - was not supported.
Slide function and keypad is great. In a review in Latvian site I read that they mentioned keypad's response was slow - not instant and buttons where hard to press. I would partly agree on the latter statement. It's true that they ''kind of'' feel tough but otherwise the response is instant. Sometimes it hangs up a little but that's about it.
All the programs included in the phone are great. There's so much inside that I haven't tried out all of them yet although I have the phone for almost 5 months.
GPS works great, google maps work as they should, wireless - don't see no problem there. I just don't like that the Bluethoot is hided somewhere deep inside. There's no use for that. The panels seem to work well and it's fun to play around with them. I cool thing is to install Touch Flow 3D but it does not carry out all the actions which it should and the phone starts to hung up more often.
Radio is great, quite loud and easy to use. The big minus is that you can store only six stations. Definitely not enough.
I agree if one says that the battery indicator is not the most successful one. Yes it is bad. It shows only some cubes in different colors but that does not tell you anything about how much of it it's left. My advice - download the batty app. and it will change a lot - easy to use, doesn't 'spoil' the wallpaper (if I may so) and allows you to set the color for the battery life span line + to set the critical level (red) and low level (yellow) - how much per cent will it be.
There's one thing that I still haven't figured out - how to change the sms ring tone. You can choose from the tones available in the phone but it's bot possible to put your own downloaded sound. You can do it for the phone's ring tone but not for the sms nor for the alarm. I find that as a quite big minus I would say. It means less personalizing.
Also the wallpaper issue remains. When mostly downloaded they are offered at 240x320 res for XPERIA which is not the right side. It is almost 2 times bigger. If you want to be precise it is 490x750 pixels but better it is to have bigger wallpapers to ensure it wont duplicate one side of the wallpaper in the empty part of the screen (who has the phone understands what I mean by that).
Be ready that there are no themes (except those installed in the mobile) for this phone. There six or seven available inside the phone (color themes) and that's about it though this is a smart phone (business phone I would say) so there is no need (practically speaking) for this as well as for other visual add-ons.
Overall the phone seems very good. I like the charger as USB connectible and also the ''lock phone'' possibilities on XPERIA. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Closing eyes on some minor minuses this is so far the best, and most app, software filled phone I have had.
I hope that this review will help some people to have a bit more insight in the cell's functions before buying it.
The camera confused me when I used it for first time - it seems very complicated at the first moment. At least I had a lot of fuss while I got used to it hence I don't use it. In NOKIA phones the camera is much more user friendly. Maybe some will disagree with me that in XPERIA the camera is complex. I accept that still I will stick to my opinion about it - first impression was not satisfying.
Price range is very decent now but at the time I bought it in Latvia (December) it was under 700 EUR and it was expensive even for this kind of phone.
I bought the phone and I think its wonderful but if you buy the phone, there are 7 panels right? The fourth one(if you count from left to right), the one with the calendar, my time in that panel is 1 hour advanced. When I check the time to see if it is advanced, the time in the settings is correct. In the other panels, the time is also correct. I don't know how to change it. Did anyone of you experience this? Can you help me with these problem?
Why is this phone the best?
SE X1 was selected and published as:
˝X1 is one of the biggest flop of 2008!˝
˝It may have been the most eagerly awaited telephone of the year... and it may well have been the most disappointing telephone of the year, too. Introduced in February with (almost) operational prototypes, the phone has only just become available in stores. Its “revolutionary” Windows Mobile interface was not only slow, but it also wasn’t any more functional than other operating systems from HTC, Samsung or Asus. And since there’s only one Windows Mobile model from Sony Ericsson, developments for the proprietary interface, quite naturally, are scarce. What was supposed to be the ultimate smartphone is at best only passable, and at worst a total failure.˝
In case you are so lucky to get a good working one - be happy but do not question others´integrity.

Just To Say ... Wonderfull ....
For those who think that windows mobile hard to use or not user friendly, I give to you the SBP mobile shell. makes windows look so easy. still maintains the panels too.
