I own one and my experience with both the phone and the support that is offered has proved on thing for me. NEVER MOVE AWAY FROM HTC.

The update software which has to be installed and run from a computer does not function correctly. Cannot get my phone to boot the way they state.

The battery life went from excellent to horrid in less than 6 months, could understand over the span of 12-18 months not less than 6.

The support both via email, they don't respond quickly if they even do respond, to a phone line where they charge you on a minute basis for issues related to thier issues.

Hi X1 owners,

Im planning to buy an X1 but after seeing the model in an SE shop, I noticed that X1 unit could not create subfolders in the SMS function. Similar to any win app, I was expecting I could create new folders for my different SMS - whether from my family, from work, from frends, etc. Would any of you guys know if X1 can create subfolders for SMS?

My other question is, can X1 copy or move SMS from SIM to the mobile or from X1 to the SIM card? My P1i and P990i can both do the said functionality but X1 model in the SE shop could not do the same thing & the sales person wasnt sure if there was this function.

Please share your experience on this. Thanks in advance guys!!!!

--> Hope to be an X1 owner soon :D

If you all insist a wm device may be the X1 is one of the best. However, I have to say that symbian device outsmart wm device in every sense. My personal experinece only.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I can not fully agree that X1 is the worst SE phone ever. But certainly if we consider the price and the anticipation it can feel like that for many people.

No wonder that X1 was selected:

˝X1 is one of the biggest flop of 2008!˝

˝It may have been the most eagerly awaited telephone of the year... and it may well have been the most disappointing telephone of the year, too. Introduced in February with (almost) operational prototypes, the phone has only just become available in stores. Its “revolutionary” Windows Mobile interface was not only slow, but it also wasn’t any more functional than other operating systems from HTC, Samsung or Asus. And since there’s only one Windows Mobile model from Sony Ericsson, developments for the proprietary interface, quite naturally, are scarce. What was supposed to be the ultimate smartphone is at best only passable, and at worst a total failure.˝

No wonder SE switched to Symbian with the Idou.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I do not support calling names here.

SE fans and reps are also people.

I have written months ago that SE will get out of the cell phone business.

They have been losing money for long time.

The recent phones are just lousy.

Of course on paper before release all look good but once they are released the story changes.

Sorry to see SE leave the market.

We need more competition. Korean corporations taking over the industry.

Poor engineering, lack of quality control and limitless greed can not survive this industry.

Sorry SE!

Pleassseee help with any of these questions:

1. Can I install applications into the external memory if the internal memory is already full? And can the applications be used directly from the external memory?

2. Does more recently manufactured Xperia have the upgraded ROM, or does all Xperia need to be upgraded by users themselves after purchased?

3. Is there really Xperia X2 coming? When will it be out? I dont want to have purchased X1, then a few weeks later they come out with X2.

Thanks!!

Just got this phone and overall I am enjoying it. It has been unlocked however is not allowing me to access 3G link through my server. Have spoken to my provider and have talked of 'unbranding' as I am using a phone from O2 and am now using Rogers. I would assume that the phone should be able to link to the 3G network of whatever country you are in. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to access the 3G capabitlities of this phone?

Tired of that default signature on your Xperia X1 that is attached to all of your outgoing e-mail? You know, the one that says, “Sent from my Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1?. Or even worse, you change the signature, only to reset your device a few days later and see that it has returned?
Here is a quick fix, and many thanks to pocketnow.com for the tip.
“In order to remove this feature, use File Explorer to browse to: My Device>Windows>Startup. Then select the file named “SignatureReplace” and choose Menu>Edit>Cut. Then browse to another folder and paste the file elsewhere, Now you can change your signature in the Messaging application and it will stay that way after a reboot.”
Now you can add a signature that gives a personal touch to your outgoing mail, and will remain after re-setting the device. Very cool.

mobile man, 17 Mar 2009actually what you will find is that the public are guinea pigs for mobile manufacturers testin... moreProbably true, but I've never had a problem with any Samsung phone, whereas Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG have all had faults1
This may be due to Samsung being the only manufacturer that has everything 'in-house' i.e. they use all their own components and can therefore test handsets properly before release.
