ok first of all there is absolutely no inherent problem with xperia's call reception. What can happen is people buy a generic xperia with a radio not optimized for a particular network-it's rather easy to flash a carriers radio. Other problems mentioned seem to be wishful thinking by windows mobile and SE haters. It's a fantastic pocket computer that doubles up as a very good mobile phone.

and my opinion is that X1 has major problem... moreactually what you will find is that the public are guinea pigs for mobile manufacturers testing purposes....
you all go on about the X1 having majour issues....but if memory servces right hasnt the nokia n95 / n95 8gb and n96 all got very bad software issues. the n95 has been out nearly three years now and how many get sent back faulty....
the reason that sony took so long to release is purely because they wanted to make sure they added everything they could possible without overloading the handset....and after release they let us report all the problems so they can release a fix...which they did....
nokia n95 and so on have had various software updates and fixes and yet still it is a faulty and problematic device....
what you will all find is that every phone is as good as the next if it does what you want it to....no phone will ever be perfect and every manufacturer will try new things to see what works the best... such is life....its all about trial and error
most of you may not agree with this but fact is it is the truth and you will all have to learn and accept that there is no superior manufacturer...

and my opinion is that X1 has major problems.
I assume it is an engineering problem - hardware.
It took SE very long time to release X1, I guess because they had tried to fix the problems.
Obviously, the X1 was released without the fix.
Besides the software like bugs the reception problem is the most annoying.

jeffry, 16 Mar 2009Hi Mobile Man....thks for your truthful comments and i do personally agree with what you've s... moreyour very welcome, if you do a google search for 'youtube cab file download', you can add x1 to the beginning but it doesnt make much difference.
what you need to do is download the cab file and unzip it as it usually comes in a zip file, connect your x1 to your pc and enter the phone via 'my computer' and go into 'my devie'. once in there copy the cab file into the 'my device' menu on the x1 and disconnect youphone. now go into the start menu on your handset and go into 'file explorer'. in there you will see the cab file for youtube. tap this and follow the installation instructions. after installation you will now have a google app that works similar to the iphoneone. as long as you have a decent 3g signal (mine works with just one bar of 3g) you can brouse and watch to your delight.

You have sampled 1... morethat is not what i am saying at all, simply that i am not the most technologically advanced person yet i bought mine off ebay cheap because it was faulty and through a software update and reading the manual have got it in tip top shape. i have also done the same for a few friends of mine.
every handset is faulty and buggy to start with but when you research and check things out its easy to fix the problems...
as for symbian, yes its good but has its limitations and if you read back quite a few news updates ago sony were actually going to drop sybian altogether due the vast problems they have had in previous models

My friend just got this phone, this how I rate it!!!
Design and construction: 9.8/10 (Yeah, really nice, and awesome build quality!!!)
Camera: 8/10 (Well, it's not that bad that gsmarena said. The flash is great, really bright, it can be used as a torch too.)
Video recording: 6/10 (it is VGA @30fps, but 3gp, not very bad)
Interface and speed: 9/10 (Interface is good, nice to change it by Xpanel. And it's fast, a bit slow just in changing the interface.)
Audio quality: 8/10 (The speaker is not very load, decent, but the quality true the headphones, is Great!)
Screen: 8/10 (The resolution is awesome, but it suffers under direct sunlight)
Keyboard: 9/10 (Nothing to say!!!)
Battery: 8/10
Well, overall, it is really a good phone, and it's not very expensive in Iran, cost around 600 $.(Well, that's good for a windows mobile device.)

Q:a few questions? have you ever used a windows mobile operated handset before?
A:it can be quite hard to get used to if your a newbie.
Q:when you use the internet on the handset or any function that involves data usage and an internet connection do you manually disconnect it afterwards?
A:any windows mobile operated device runs different from other handsets, just like a pc you need to manually disconnect the internet or it will keep running in the background and drain your bettery fatser.
these seem to be the main issues people are leaving bad comments for.
this phone is fantastic in all functions and if you had taken the time to read the review on use the phone and actually get used to it and read the manual to make sure you are using it properly you would have a much better experience.
all in all every mobile phone is as good as the next if it does what you want it to do, what you all need to understand is something called the mobile market which is aimed at satisfying the needs of each individual so just because one phone doesnt suit you doesnt mean it wont suit someone else.
i'm not denying anyone freedom of speech but before you start bad mouthing a phone because you are scared of it because you dont understand it just think about what ive said.

You have sampled 1 or few phones - you can not tell how the others behave.
We have our experience not just with X1, but also with similar product - Windows product!!!
It is clear to me that x1 has much more issues than other models.
You may think differently. I am happy that you got a working unit.
Not everybody is like that and many are very disappointed with the X1.
WinMo in general is a disaster.

X1 is a nice design phone but very slow.
The speaker is low. The call quality is worst than any SE phone I ever had.
I totally understand why people return it.
Windows Mobile is buggy, but for some reason X1 more sensitive to that than other phones.
Omnia HTC HD runs much better.
I hope the X2 will be much better!

so i work at frys electronic and actually brought that X1 for 720 USD
anyways i found that the phone is pretty HOT and everything was perfect
except for THE MotherF**** Window mobile 6
ok so my question is, will SE release a new OS update or a new X1 with different OS
because damn i love this phone, and i just hated that another stupid MS product is ruined the Xperience
im currently using iphone 3g right now, love the thing but everyone got one
