Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970All of what u said might be true but N97 sure is a worthy competitor. Just think: only nokia phones give photos of 300dpi res. and SE only 72dpi. U speak of high resolution screen but I think that N97 res. is better because it has little bit less pixels to process and a larger 3.5" screen, overall which means a bigger picture. Higher resolution on a smaller screen may not always be good as the text becomes too small to be easily read, but it depends on u: u prefer cramming or scrolling? As far as memory is concerned then if u have a phone capable of displaying DVD res then u would rather keep hi-res vids. not those QVGA ones, so u'll be needing more space. Not to forget the camera which is capable of recording @ VGA 30fps, VGA vids also take up built in space much faster than ordinary CIF 15fps. I'm not a Nokia fanboy but i'll definitely chose the one with a lower price tag.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Do not argue with this guy - he just wants to troll.

He knows that Nokia N97 32GB much better than X1 less than a single GB.

    16M much better than X1 65K

    and of course

3MP camera with lousy lens and flash is better for him than 5MP :))))))

    Pathetic!

Yes, everybody ignorant he is the smart dude who know better than any engineer.

As far as the screen ratio - yes SE X1 is wonderfool :))) aplications do not run on it vbecause the screwed up ration.

But that is the least of the problems - you (owner) have hard time to make or receive a single call :

    - reception is bad
    - ring volume low
and I could go on and on and on !

N97 will never compete with X1 - X1 is already history

That is the reason they give it away for FREE!!!!!!

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970More blind fools will now come declaring that N97 is the best, well thats pure bullsh*t, first of all N97 offers nothing really new, same features in a new packing and thats all. Secondly its coming in Q2 2009 so it will probably be available in may or june 2009 and thats 6 months at least from now, so before blowing your trumpet let me tell you that its gonna suck, the specs are not so great, and please don't tell me about 16m colors because it still has a lower resolution and TFT screen compared to a far superior WVGA screen of Xperia.
Nokia fans have a tendency to look like a fool whenever a new n-series is announced but this really getting annoying now. But I can understand the desperation of nokia fans because they were crying for ages for a phone that can compete with Xperia, but guess what?its not gonna happen for a long time and by then X2 will blow everyone away.

SE is the most overrated phone on the market - by the fans

There are some widely reported problems with the X1:
(yes, some of you may got a perfect unit , but not every body - please understand that ;)

        1: Reception problems

        2: Wifi problems (drops Wifi)

3: battery weak (probably due to RAM leakage)

        4: case cracks
        Manufacturing error /lack of QA
        http://pockethacks.com/cracks-...r-xperia-x1/

5:Software crash / needed hard reset

        6: incompatibility with application
        due to screen resolution

        7: unit gets hot
        (battery?)

        8: low speaker volume

9: panels are sole, hang often

Not all units have all of these but one or two of these is enough to get the user dissatisfied with the X1.

But, if you are who do not care, or happened to have a perfect unit ;)
        - this post is not for you!
        Do not get worked-up :))))

Ido not like using opera at all and did not like it on p900i,,i prefer p.i.e. I liked using opera mini 4.1 on n82 and as xperia is java enabled would opera mini work???Off to bed now but will try mini 2morrow.The pre-installed wallpapers like neo mix and neo sphere show off how lucid and vivid this screen is even tho its only got 65k colours.Yes only 65k colours complainers yet its unbelievble in depth of colour..

the fact is, the xperia and the htc touch HD are very similar phones under the bonnet, just styled differently.

nick, 02 Dec 2008nono i dont own any windows mobile devices as of yet, im getting the HTC touch HD a month toda... moreIt's a hell of a lot more finger friendly than my W960. I'll be brutally honest - I find it pretty finger friendly, but my fingers aren't all stumpy like most men's are. And if the screen was flush with the frame instead of being sunk slightly it would be better. That being said, I hardly ever have to pull out the stylus, so short answer - yeah, it is pretty finger friendly.

I was very tempted by the Touch HD, but you know me - I like my SE's and spec-wise the Touch HD isn't far enough ahead to justify switching from a manufacturer I know I'm happy with. I was enquiring about the Xperia in my local Orange store. Turns out it's not available directly through Orange. Asked about the Touch HD and the sales girl tried to tell me it was like an inferior version of the iPhone!!! I thought to myself "do you know anything about the products you sell?".

As for WinMo - as long as you go into it fully aware that it'll take a while to get used to then things will prob'ly turn out easier than you expect. The "Today" screen (basically your home screen) is great. You can display the time and date, your wifi status, a Windows Live search bar, your Windows Live inbox and messenger info, a calendar, your task list, your message inbox and info on many of your installed apps all on one screen. You can open each app or task or whatever by touching the bar on the today screen and each one can be turned on or off independantly, giving you as much or as little info and buttons as you want. Straight from your standby screen. Oh, and if you (or anyone else new to WinMo) are gonna be doing any major modding I would reccommend installing SPB Backup, available free from the SPB website. Remember a lot of 3rd party apps will invalidate your warranty. This program will allow to restore your device without the pain of losing data.

I dunno if I'd go so far as to call it terrible, but there are better screens out there for sunlight clarity.

As for what WinMo offers that Nokia doesn't - unparallelled customisation, seamless integration with a PC, and (in my opinion) it looks nicer too. And that's just the start. When I've had it a bit longer I'll come back with more.

And as for Nokia's market share - I dunno how many times it's been said on here but good sales do not make a good product. Titanic is the highest grossing movie of all time, so it must be the best, right? I'll tell you exactly why Nokia has the largest market share - advertising...

And what does the WMphones offer more than NOKIA'S OS anyways!!?!!think well & make a better choice, always ask you're self why NOKIA got the biggest sigment in the market share!
