Yes, there are some good reviews and several bad ones.
SE is a global corporation with huge PR budget. ... ;)
You quote the good ones, I quote the others. :)
But, since the unit now available - anybody can check it out.
As I have always said, if you like it buy it.
But, it is not liked very much by the mass. The sales are slow. Although, the priced dropped from 1200 USD to 800USD.
(in about 2 weeks?!)
SE still is loosing money, it really needs a good product. I hope Hikaru will not be disappointing like the X1.

Pocketnow.com- OVERALL IMPRESSION
This is the best Windows Mobile device that has ever passed my desk. Period. Sony Ericsson was right by declaring it a "game changer" - this has raised the bar, and if the Panel interface takes off and we see a lot of neat Panels, the X1 could become a benchmark mobile device.
Not only is the X1 refined from top to bottom, but it brings a new interface paradigm that challenges our idea of what a Windows Mobile Today screen should be. I was super impressed by its high performance and excellent battery life, and was refreshed by the sensitivity and clarity of the high-resolution touchscreen. If you're big on one-handed use, this device is not for you. But for everyone else that desires a powerhouse of a device, this is definitely it.
boygeniusreport.com- Usability factor
This could be subjective depending on your view of Windows Mobile, but we found the X1 to be on par or better than any Windows Mobile device we’ve used.
Watch this video for the comparison between Xperia, touch Pro, Diamond and Touch HD.

Quote from a... moreFrom CNet- Overall, the Xperia X1 was a responsive device. There's a slight lag when you activate a new panel, and some sluggishness when we had numerous applications open--typical Windows Mobile behavior. No system stalls or crashes, however. Despite the HSDPA support, we found the Web browsing to be a little pokey compared to other smartphones.
From Gigaom- I was surprised by how nimble the phone feels — I have yet to use another Windows Mobile phone that comes close to X1. The device gives you many ways to interact with the contact touch, full QWERTY keyboard, 4-way key and optical joystick navigation and panels. It is the panels which are awesome and function almost like how the applications are accessed on the iPhone.
Bottomline: If your company insists that you need a Windows Mobile phone, then Xperia X1 is an obvious (and perhaps the only) choice.

I do tolerate different views and beliefs....it's the complaining you do that I don't tolerate. I mean enuff is enuff. GET OVER IT!

How to Install A Program Using a .cab File: One of the most overlooked ways of installing programs to your Pocket PC is a .cab file. "What is a .cab file"? You ask? A cabinet (CAB) file is a compressed file that holds all of the items necessary for installing a program on your Pocket PC. .cab files are extremely portable because you do not need Activesync in order to install a program on your Pocket PC. As long as the .cab file is on your device, then you can perform the install.
EXTRACTING A .CAB FILE FROM AN .EXE ON YOUR DESKTOP
some of the developers of the game or program make the .CAB downloadable from their Website.
On your desktop PC, rename the installer .EXE file to .ZIP, and unzip it. With some luck you get one or more files with the extension .CAB and eventually the substring "ARM" or "XSCALE" in it. This is/are your file(s).
If you can't unzip the .EXE file in above-mentioned way, just start the installer .EXE file on your desktop. If your ActiveSync is installed, the program will put the CAB files into a specific directory on your desktop, most probably in C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\, in a subdirectory usually named like the program you want to install.
There may be cases that the CAB files are put somewhere else inside C:\Program Files\... or in :\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp. Then, you may want to look for new directories there and/or do a generic *.cab file search.
Use CabBackup, a program that makes a .CAB file from a program that has already been installed on your PPC. This doesn't work for all programs and sometimes it doesn't backup all the settings of a program so use it with caution.
Use CabGrabber, an utility that searches for .CAB files on your desktop for programs from which you launched the installation process, even when your device wasn't connected. (Thank you BeerBear!)
To all potential users: go ahead and try the unit. IF you like it - fine. You may do so. As you can see: some people here very happy with the unit some people not.
As far as me, I really do not care whether you buy it or not!
I just saw some people even question the éast quote. So, I give you another:
Quote from a Pro-Review:
˝Summary: I don’t know what to say… Xperia has been a huge disappointment for me.˝
Is this give you the overall opinion well enough for you?
This was written by another known pro-reviewer:
˝The most disappointing about X1 is its speed. The handset is slow, it’s very slow. We have to wait a couple of seconds for the programs to launch, screen switches aren’t fast either,.....˝

Xperia X1 is the phone when it comes to processing speed, user interface ease and utility. But it does carry cons as compared to its pros
1. If u r a SE user, it doesnt matter as this is Windows 6.1 you dealing with which will put u back into the learner's socks. Powerful processor, all possible functionalities provided (except for Bus. CArd Scanner) and fantastic display screen size.
2. Customise to need. Edit icons and User interfacing Panels.
3. Lovely Opera 9.1 browser providing fantastic landscape view access for browsing. high touch screen sensitivity.
CONS: Although this baby carries who's who of the feature list in one single body, there are key draw backs
1. The key board keys doesnt provide that fast typing benefit as it seems. Keys are smaller then they seem.
2. No Accelerometer. I have no F@#&$@ clue they have not integrated it. which meands that the only way it can switch to landscape mode is when u slide the keyboard.
3. The Movie player sucks. u may wanna try downloading a new one as the clips are delayed while playing.
4. The optical pad key doesnt provide the required speed of access.
1. Considering the Xperia X1 prices, competitive models available in the market and the target business users this phone is not bad. i'll rate it as
range: 0 - 5
Price: 2 - Too expensive
User interface: 3 - Virtual keypad is remains virtual to use and physical keypad possess size challenge
Functionalities: 5 - No doubt that it is a fully loaded phone
There's just one alternative choice in comparision - HTC Touch PRO which definately needs to adapt to the SE's ideology of customizable interface.
HOld on for 6 months and i m sure you wont regret not having bought this.

The ha... moreHave you noticed that, now that the phone's been out for a while, the negative comments are starting to trickle away? Except yours, of course. But there's less of them than there was last week. The positive comments, however, just keep coming. And I'm seeing more and more things along the lines of "there were problems with it at first, but I played around with it and now it's great". You mention the bugs. Repeatedly. Fact is - it's a new device, they all have problems. So do new software programs, and video games. That's why patches/firmware updates exist. True - it shouldn't happen, but everyone knows that it does, and prob'ly always will. Us grown-ups have accepted that and, while perhaps a little frustrated, we are willing to wait because we know that, once these updates are available, we will be proud owners of an awesome bit of kit. I bet you got your Xperia, weren't patient enough with it and took it back for exchange. Now you're seeing more and more people happy with the handset you sent back, and you hate it. You're desperate to hate the Xperia so that you can justify willingly giving it up...

And slow is meant mostly by panels, browsing, changing windows and such is all instantly. Firmwares do tend to increase speed, maybe if there was a way, that you cencel animation on panels, it would insta switch?..
