They replaced the Google panel with a Vodafone live one that you cannot remove and if you try use the wi-fi it will just not connect .
I got my x1 last week and returned it yesterday. I contacted Vodafone about the problems I was having with the wi-fi and was told that in making some of the changes to the phone that they had messed up the wi-fi and it will not work and are working to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
Sony ericsson have also confirmed Vodafone are having issues with the phones wi-fi and are working with Vodafone to resolve the problem but they also told me that all other networks are unaffected and should send the phone back to Vodafone.
Xperia X1 is an awesome device let down by stupid meddling vodafone
Jay-Cee, 22 Nov 2008im gonna buy this phone no matter what!!like your atitude, i've was thinking the same way and i was worried that what happens if it disapoints me but not only it was perfect but also it worth any peny must say the phone is perfect for everything,if you are windows mobile user you will definitly love this phone.
I do not suggest that you should rely on these reviews - but it should make you think and make you careful - CHECK the unit out before you buy it. I did and I did not like it. Did you? :)))
˝To be blunt, the Xperia X1 isn't quite up to snuff with the top smartphones in the market from an overall standpoint. Whether you're talking about its $800 price tag, stylus-based resistive touchscreen or 3.2 MP camera, this is a phone that would have fared better amongst early adopters a year or two ago.˝
This was written by another known pro-reviewer:
˝The most disappointing about X1 is its speed. The handset is slow, it’s very slow. We have to wait a couple of seconds for the programs to launch, screen switches aren’t fast either,.....˝
Since the quotes were posted sometime ago :)
Quote from a Pro-Review:
˝Summary: I don’t know what to say… Xperia has been a huge disappointment for me.˝
Revenant, 22 Nov 2008Well, I'd like to know why you insist on quoting supposed reviews, and yet you still refuse to... more:)))
There was only ONE review I had questioned!!!
If you are unable to be accurate you deserve an X1 :)
Lock-ups, bad reception would not bother you - PROBABLY!
We post our ˝OPINION˝ here. If you can not find the reviews I had mentioned I feel sorry but that is your problem. Your incompetency do not justify that you accuse me of anything.
By the way, I checked out who wrote the article in every case. ;)
(do your own work. or ..... up!:)
But, probably if you would had asked with a nice attitute I would had given the links.
I have used THREE reviews.
I hope you treat your family, colleagues, etc. in a nicer manner otherwise .....

And why is it that, whenever anybody else posts a link to a review praising the Xperia, your response is that the review must have been written by a child. How do you know this? Answer - you're making it up. Why is it that you always post the same two or three quotes? Why can you never post a link? Answer - because you're making it all up...
I would like to know the source of protocol for the Li-Po battery.
Deplete and recharge several times makes the battery better?
¨gets broken in˝
Yes, all these PR staff, hired guns, SE fanatics so smart.
Yes, negative opinions/experiences will not be accepted by the reader only your PR - I guess your always right. People in general what to believe that X1 is just perfect.
SE have taken almost a year with HTC help to release this perfect phone. While HTC, Samsung etc. teleasing phones left and rigth.
So many people were waiting, so when the phone got released even the fans got disappointed. SE was not ready, so all the negative comments just flooded the net. Now, the hype is at full strength.
The negative comments are down since few people actually buy the unit. But, the phone is the same:
- wifi problems
- slow performance
Readers do not ned to beleive anything. Go ahead and try it. Try is next to HTC HD, or Omnia etc.
and get it with a good return policy, and zero restocking fee.
Good luck. :)
brynn, 22 Nov 2008I am thinking of getting it today i hope i am doing right???Absolutely. But be patient with it, especially if you've never used WinMo before. If you have used WinMo, you should be fine. Also, as I've said on here before, the battery may seem a bit dodgy at first. After it's been fully charged, the fully depleted and fully charged again a couple of times, the battery will get broken in and will last longer, so give that a couple of days. Most places will have a 14 day return policy. I'd have a play around with the phone for a few days, and if still not satisfied by day 10, think about a return, but I'm pretty confident that you'll be happy with it...

im realy confused between the x1 the lg kf 900 nokia 5800 samsung f480 and htc touch hd i want a phone to keep i am bored of changing my phone every 3 monthes
Apparently the European release has been held back so not to compete with sonys own recently released c905. Phones 4u are the only website i have seen it on so far and on Vodafone contract only. It should be out in time for Xmas though, with other service providers. I'm eagerly awaiting a GSM arena review.
