you can read a good preview right here : http://www.smape.com/en/reviews/sony_ericsson/Sony_Ericsson_XPERIA_X1_C905-prev.html
I don't think there is any arrow keyboard onboard the X1. How do you go about playing Window action games like "3D mini dogfight/ Aircombat," "3D chopper fligh" & "Atomic cannon pocket?" Your reply is greatly appreciated & thanx.
Wow.. relax down there..
since u've said that u study marketing.. what SE do right now is logical and definitely legal.
They are pricing their products using Price Skimming Strategies. For you guys who did not know what Price Skimming is, Google it !!!
For me, i have a silver xperia right now. And I'm totally happy with it.. Delighted to be exact. SO for ALL of you HATERS out there. JUST SHUT THE HELL UP and look other mobile phones if you really do not like Xperia.
sm of u guyz r forgettin..or may b neva evn knew tht a business's 1 n ONLY goal is to maximize its profit..its not ma opinion..im studyin marketin..so if ur sayin tht they reached their profit goals or wateva..n thts y they r lowerin the price..thts utter bs..coz theres no margin to profit..the more u make out of it..the more its considered to b profit..its not like "hey guyz we'll need to make $xxx n thn after tht we'll juz don care k? we'll juz lower the price..sounds good?=D" do u think they're tht dumb to do tht? if i owned a business n i seen ppl payin for the products evn at a high price..y in the world wud i cut of the price for??? the only time wen they lower the price is wen they see a slight downsizing of the limit of product sold per period OR the products being sold had technical errors and returned by customers after dissatisfactory or customer complains..the brand wud know coz their clients wud let thm know bout the vast purchase returns of the particular device..thn wat they do is lower the price so they can target those customers who were waitin for the price to drop..n they can afford it ths time..coz the ones who has lotta money already bought it..common sense man..n soon the price goes evn lower..juz above its production price..minute profit..BUT still profiting from every single piece of device..u guyz might thing im either a nokia fan or sm other brandz fan..but i currently own an se n ma former phn was a nokia..i go for good phns not a brand maniac..as i mentioned in few of ma earlier posts on diff phn segments..so don say the price is droppin coz they made lotta money already..not juz for ths phn but any other cell phn..coz ma frndz..its all bout money..the more the merrier..thts the only thing tht goes in a business..either u get as much as possible or save as much as u can..period
Dmitry, 18 Nov 2008Why won't SE make their own OS? It would be far better than Windows Mobile. The really should ... moreSymbian is ok but WM is a complete os. Flexible, powerful but quite complicated for the newcomer. People who don't understand WinMo tend to get frustrated and blame the OS rather than themselves.
If you dont have a pc then you download .cab files directly to your Windows mobile. If you have a pc then you can install exe and msi files(for PPC) through your pc using activesync.
what is the WM game or software format is? like java is .jar and symbian is .sis/.six
Why won't SE make their own OS? It would be far better than Windows Mobile. The really should try to come up with something better.
There's got to be some kind of filter on voting otherwise brand fanboys would vote straight 10's and brand haters would vote straight 1's.I'd imagine gsmarena put a limit of 10,9,9 on top models and a base of around 6.Votes of 1,1,1 will be accepted but market up to the base value. As soon as the xperia X1 hit number1 spot on gsmarena it attracted some ridiculous characters and no doubt a flurry of low votes, seems very immature to me!I mean you do all this just to see nokia n82 or whatever phone at number 1.>rolls eyes
Danny, 18 Nov 2008As far as dropping price because demand high supply low??? Think about the I-Phone when it fir... moreVery good point. Exactly the same thing happened with Nintendo's N64. Sold so well that after 6 months the price was cut by almost half. Anyone remember that? The controversy it caused? It was so bad, Nintendo had to offer a free game to everyone who bought theirs before the price cut...
What\'s it like as a phone?
Works very well. Signal strength seems good, better than the Pro in this respect, and holds on to signal while in call very well. Had a few dropped calls but only in known black spots. Battery life is good and sound quality/volume also good.
Navigating to the place to make an outbound call?
There is a send hardware button , which opens the standard Windows smartdialer.
What does it do when the phone rings? (pop up? etc)
Standard Windows Mobile fare, a pop up which can be disabled.
What about when an SMS comes in? Or if you want to write one?
Once again standard WM. Pop up, sounds etc can be configured. To write WM messages.
Is user is able to text message single-handedly?
You can, it’s easier for me on the screen, as I use TouchPal, you can on the keyboard but adding Capitals, figures etc tricky one handed.
Display in sunlight? The X1 has a slight edge as it seems to have one less layer of plastic in front of the screen for light to bounce off.
How solid is the slider mechanism, is there any slop or lateral movement in it?
This is very good, very positive, satisfying click once open, very little to none lateral on this one, slightly more when shut than open but still good.
People were standing in line, long line, in front of the Apple Store - day after day _ I saw them.
I do not see any lines in front of any stores for X1!
X1 is available widely. The selves are full.
X1 is Not a big hit at all.
Anonymous, 17 Nov 2008Se fanboys try to keep up the image - but too many problems and all the fact say: X1 is a fail... moreAs far as dropping price because demand high supply low??? Think about the I-Phone when it first came out... 1 month late they dropped the price $200. If you make enough money right off the bat b/c it keeps selling out you can afford to drop the price... as long as you have already met/exceeded your profit goals
Soemone asked me before:
If all the problems are true how come the rate is so high for this phone on this website?
Well, I thought SE PR staff and fans the responsible.
Now, someone noted (few comments below) votes 5 below not counted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That makes the voting result totally INVALID and FAKE!
Obviously, users with problem will not give 5 or more and they are totally counted out from the result.
Another example(itf it is true) how corporates manipulate the customers.
Anonymous, 18 Nov 2008Conclusion
In terms of size and shape, the Xperia X1 is really not bad at all.
Unfortuna... morebet they hadn't installed xperiatweak...Serious x1 users can be found at www.xda-developers.com
BTW, in my family we use WM for long time, and we still use an old device without ANY crash!
I am not a big fan of WM but it can be reliable even in a HP device (very old and used daily)- which not famous about its reliable units. :))))
As I have written before: we do not need pro-review since the model is out - we can try the unit ourself and see the other users´ review.
But, at least this review do not cover-up the problem:
CRASHES - several Crash on one day!!!!!!!!
(as many of us experienced - this problem was not fixed!)
I think it is not acceptable!!!!!!!
Battery life on the Xperia X1 is just average — you can get about a day and a half if you don’t use WiFi at all.
If you do a little surfing via WiFi for an hour or two, however, expect to have to charge the X1 at the end of the day.
We also experienced a few problems with our review unit, as the X1 would crash a few times during the day, and the problems persisted even after we hard reset the device and started from scratch.
To be fair, a little sticker on the side of the X1’s packaging indicated that the device is a “trial unit /prototype” so perhaps the stability problems were due to firmware that’s not fully baked yet.
In terms of size and shape, the Xperia X1 is really not bad at all.
Unfortunately, the thing that really lets down the X1 seems to be the Windows Mobile operating system itself, as Sony Ericsson just doesn’t go far enough with its customisations to minimise the problems with the operating system.
My verdict? The hardware is nice, but for the price, Sony Ericsson really needs to look at where HTC is now with its latest Touch handhelds and really bring the X1 up to speed both in terms of performance and cost.
Pros: Nice design; fits well in the hand; beautiful high-resolution screen.
Cons: Interface still needs work; stability issues; thumb keyboard too flat and closely spaced.
