65K colors ??? Very dissapointing that Sony went for a 16bit palette.
With a phone that has as many features as this you would assume that Sony would have aimed for nothing less that 16 million.
Anonymous, 08 Oct 2008official indonesia sony ericsson change X1 status from coming soon to available...
i heard ... moreIf SE uses symbian, we don't need to look at GSMarena for X series anymore.
May be they can't compete with HTC for WM devices. HTC is monopoly in WM market.
May be they don't have professionals to produce WM devices. X1 is enough trouble for them..
May be their bad marketing team over spent for Johnny X.. LOL.. no budget anymore... they need to fire more people...
SE should be been a success on X1 but too bad... bad marketing team with bad strategy and lack of professionals for WM OS....
I hope Samsung would produce more WM devices... I hate HTC for their design.
official indonesia sony ericsson change X1 status from coming soon to available...
i heard SE confirmed that the next xperia will use symbian and nvidia tegra..i dont know wether this is true or not
for the first time se has not used the same boring design as all there other phones and after all if they want to start selling phones they could drop a 5mp with zenon flash to say the least and drop the price to 500USD if they want to get the thing off the shelf..come on..the n95 is 2 years old and im sure persons rather buy that over this at the moment...
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970yeah, you are right. 5800 doesn't even deserve to mention about it here.
I saw SE X1 actual photos on the net and the real one is not as beautiful as the digital creation.
For example, the screen is not totally flat like diamond, HD, Omnia or iPhone. It is inside the casing about 1 mm lower than the faceplate and not good for total finger usage, especially at the corner. Like all HTC phones before HTC Touch.
And also the keypads look too cheap and it looks like they are coming off after a few usage.
The reviews made by who got X1 were not very good at Swedish website. I am changing my mind to Omnia which is a perfect phone except a bit lower screen resolution.
Moreover, X1 is releasing late but likely to be very expensive due to the brand. I will wait for a few more months to compare X1 and Omnia myself and choose the better one.
After a few months, Omnia price will be considerably dropped. At the moment, it is still around NZD 1,200 for 16GB one. Around NZD 1,000 would be good for 16GB.
Omnia will have 16GB out of the box so, don't have to worry about sd card.
Let's wait and see. But my patient is running out though.
On the whole, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is an impressive phone, and together with the HTC Touch Pro it's probably the best Windows Mobile-based smartphone so far.
The cons here are its annoying slowness and the fact that Sony Ericsson in some cases have taken the easy route with the existing Windows features instead of implementing its own, superior ones for the platform.
Much of this criticism can be fixed, it's mainly about killing bugs and speeding up the software, but our long-term requests would be that the next Xperia phone takes better care of Sony Ericsson's strong heritage.
Especially so, since it seems that we'll have to wait some more for the release of the next-generation Windows Mobile.
The X1 is just not affordable paying 890UDS is too expensive, no xenon flash, only 65k colors because of windows mobile...This phone could be great if under 600USD!
One of the first reviews
dont call it lies... its call creative marketing. They said it would ship 9/30 and it did....BUT... they didnt say how many would be shipped as well as to who and where.... besides... this WILL be worth the wait!
dude x1 had sme problem se company is hidding wih people.i think its a stupidity 2 make people wait for a long time for its publicity
se is always late useless company n wen its out it will b crap windows is crap even worse on a fone it keeps freezin n lags for people that aren't biased vote this fone 5,5,5 coz gsmarena dont accept 1,1,1 as a vote on this se model
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2008The Phone seems to be awesome...but the same old question on GPS. Does it need internet access... moreIt has an built-in GPS receiver along with A-GPS for added accuracy via the cellular network. Of course, like all other phones with GPS+A-GPS, you can merely use the former to avoid high data usage charges if you aren't on an unlimited plan.
The Phone seems to be awesome...but the same old question on GPS. Does it need internet access or The GPS is independent???
