i know..
X1i is 900/1900/2100
X1a is 850/1900/2100

.. i have Tmobile. i know people are saying the X1a is the international version.. does it matter which i get? i know ATT works on the 850 network but Tmobile uses it only as roaming? so it shouldn't matter to me? o.O

am i right or wrong?

can i just get the X1i imported? and be just fine?

it's true there are different versions of X-X1
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 / X1i / X1c /&/ X1a
no major difference except for the network supported (which is a minor one: UMTS900 / UMTS850), and the release date/period.

HTC HD or SONY X1 or SAMSUNG Omnia ????

HTC HD
- a good resolution and large screen
- don't like the design
- where the hell is LED or Flash for camera?
- HTC doesn't know what they are doing sometimes
- I love the specs but not the ugly design
- how do you scroll up and down?
- Touch flo 3D ( well not for all programs )?

SONY X1
- like everything except the Keyboard
- awesome design

SAMSUNG
- a good size and weight
- simple yet elegant design (not like shinny HTC... always d.a.m.n ugly with finger prints)
- very fast processor
- need more RAM (should have 256 MB)
- Low screen resolution, should have 800 x 480
- not a standard USB port

SE should build a Windows Mobile handset without HTC.Most people praise HTC but they have made numerous WM phones that preform really bad.If it wasn't for Microsoft pleading with them to increase the RAM modules they would still be using the paltry 64MB chip.WM can be a hit but manufacturers have to give the devices suitable hardware and software.

So it's really a good question where gsmarena got their information about it.

But as you said we know more in two weeks...

Crow, 17 Sep 2008Sorry, but your explaination is wrong! The numbers are per pixel. So 65k means each pixel ... moreYou are correct the other person has it all wrong,,

resolution is the amount of pixels the screen is made up of which is 800 x 480 pixels,,

the colour pallette is number of shades/colours per pixel which in xperias case is 65,536,,

12 bit screens have 4096 colour pallette whereas the cathode ray tube telly has what they call "true colour" and is 24 bit or 16.7 million colours.

There are others levels in between but some of philips ambilight teles have a 4 trillion colour pallette ,,i wonder who counts these things??????

Crow, 17 Sep 2008Sorry, but your explaination is wrong! The numbers are per pixel. So 65k means each pixel ... morebut the question is :

is there a thing has 16M colors variation and can u detect the color as much as 16million colors by your eyes ? i think 65k color is enough and by 800x480 pxl so the colors will be sharp, clarity and clean on the screen

Anonymous, 17 Sep 2008deanne take X1 screen with 800x480 pixels (384k pixels in the screen): 65k - 'only' 65k co... moreSorry, but your explaination is wrong!

The numbers are per pixel.
So 65k means each pixel can display one of 65.536 (=2^16=16bit) different colors

256k ~ 262.144 different colors per pixel (= 2^18 = 18 bit)

16M = 16.777.216 different colors per pixel (= 2^24 = 24 bit)
